I am looking for some information about this area and am posting here as no one seems to use the regional boards very much. We have just moved here and are very lucky (and excited) to have the horses at home with us. I think we have located saddlers feed merchants etc and we are fortunate that both our previous farrier and vet will cover this area. We are wondering about hacking routes the A421 seems to be a bit of a bit barrier but we do have transport and could box up provided that there was somewhere safe to park up and unload. The lanes seem reasonably ok and drivers mostly considerate but would prefer to get off road if possible. I am aware of the Parks Trust but there do not seem to be any specific arrangements for parking horseboxes and trailers? Does anyone have any experience of this or any other good local places to go? Any and all suggestions welcome.

Both horses are pretty good doers and there is currently a lot of grass in two of the fields so I am thinking of trying to get someone to cut hay for me. I would prefer small bales because I can store that and storing and handling big bales would be a bit problematic. We would just need the fields cut turned and baled as we can probably get the bales in ourselves. Does anyone know of a contractor or farmer who offers this service?

Where abouts are you in MK17, its pretty vast! You might want to check out the Bucks FB pages which will have a lot of your answers. I know there is parking and some great hacking in MK where you can park a lorry/ trailer etc and again, these FB pages will have that information (sorry being a bit vague due to your area being big!)

If a house has a horse in the fields, knock and say hi, that will be a better way to meet people and get to know whose who for hay contractors and where best to hack. Im MK18 and a lot of people drive and park up at Kingsbridge to hack. I just think anyone i know that does hay will think you too far!
