gah.

im very stressed and stroppy at the moment, and just wondered if you thought i was in the right.

right, since jan ive been telling various pc team managers that i wanted to be considered for that area intermediate sj and eventing teams. i have performed well at trials and possibly been one of the most reliable members.

sj: was last sat. all last week i was told yes im on the team. the night before i get a phone call and am told that im no longer on the team. not wanting to go into to much info but my place has been given to team managers daughter. i wouldnt mind but she has done no training at all this year.

eventing: again told, yes fine for intermediate teams. i had to ring up the manager last night and i was told they are not even sending an intermediate team. this in itself has made me furious because even though my horses dressage is not his strong point he will go clear xc and sj 99% of the time. and they know this, i have not only won various competitions with them being their, but again performed well at training.

i feel like im being treated like a child, im 17 and pony club should give me the chance i want to.

also my horse is going to my sister and im getting a youngster. so basically this was my last chance to do any area competitions.

i just feel like im not being taken seriously.
i dont want to leave my pc but i think thats what its coming too.

I've read a few posts on HHO in a similar vein; people who do all the hard work not getting the place they deserve. Very frustrating, but I'm not sure what you can do about it. Sorry

Just leave! when i was 17 i wanted to be on the intermediate sj team, id been n the year before on my JA pony and id been to all the training seesions except for one, i was then told i couldnt possibly be considered because id missed one training session!

i think i will.

riding club here i come.

hoping with bot be as biased as pc?

thanks for your thoughts people

Riding club are totally different - I've been ringing people up begging them to be in the team

Come to the conclusion its a thankless task, so shall try and weasel out of the job in the future!!

Pony club is not very politically correct I am afraid, and even when I was a pony clubber this sort of thing used to happen a lot. Really frustrating, poor you

Yes you are right to be angry!

I bet your more hurt than anything.

I've heard of things like this before in the PC. A friend at work has 4 daughters and each and every one of them have experienced this.

Yes you stick to RC!
Dont let it get to you too much else it'll eat away at you.
Hold your head up high sister!!

If your pony club isn't helping you get where you want to go then maybe it is time to move on.

You get loads of young adults at Riding Club level and they tend to do very well.

I have been asked to be on two teams this year for Riding Club and I really consider it to be an honour. I know I am sad but I really think it is quite something to be considered let alone asked.

I think PC often tends to be "jobs for the boys". My daughter used to get very annoyed when she was always put on the B teams, and yet more often than not had beaten those in the A team. In the last team event she did the 3 other members of her team were all eliminated (1 at the first jump), so as there was also an individual award she rode the 2nd round and jump off just for herself (i.e. taking the odd calculated risk rather than riding for a safe clear) and to her delight won the individual title. Think she was tempted to do a "Harvey Smith" during the lap of honour! The other thing that used to annoy her was how the rule that you had to attend 3 rallies was often overlooked for certain people. At your age you would probably enjoy riding club more so I would leave the PC.

as usual a case of not what you know (or what you can do) but who you know - it happens all through life unfortunately

I would speak to the mangers and explain why you are annoyed, they could have entered you as an individual if there wasnt a team. I would talk it through before leaving, if you change Pony clubs you cannot compete for/with your new pony club for year after the trasfer so bear that in mind. I am our pony clubs team manager and try and do it as fairly as possible selecting the best 4 on performance, we have a team doing the SJ at Gatcombe on friday so should be a good day out for us all if nothing else, the point if PC is to have fun and learn, so talk to the people responsable and see if you can get your point across. good luck

changing isnt a possibility because of the rule about not being able to compete at area for 18months after switching. thats if my new one ends up being at that level that is.
no i think it will be riding club.

gah my DC just rang me up asking me to represent pony club at national quiz championship. am feeling very used.
