Just had a call about T and they asked whether a trial was a possibility.

I said that they're best off trying him out first hacking and in the school before we discuss that.

TBH, my instinct is telling me no. I know they don't know this but I'm more than honest about his 'quirks' and for me I'd rather get a decent home than flog him to a novice.

What are your thoughts? x
 
NO, NO, NO.

Tell them they are welcome to come and try him at your yard on a couple of occassions - but do not let him go anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Personally, I'd say no to the trial, but say they are more than welcome to try him in lots of different situations and at different times on your yard if they are really interested in him.
 
I would say you are welcome to try him as many times at the yard he is at until you are satisfied he is or isnt the one for you.

Perhaps say you sont want him going away on trial because the last thing you want is him being sent to and fro unsettling the poor guy.

Did uou say you had put him on project horses, I had a look for him yesterday but couldnt see him. I have to agree with AmyMay, if they come and see him and really like him, they will be prepared to make a few trips to see him and ensure he is right for them and they are right for him.
Also Im a bit scepticaal about trials, it always takes time for a horse to settle and when there is a trial period, there may be a tendency to rush things.
Hope he gets a deserving home xx
 
No no no no no!

Had a horse up our yard a few weeks ago on a months trail. He turned out to be a bit of a nutter, so after 3 weeks, they called his owners and said they were sending him back.

The next day he was kicked in the field, punctured a joint and ended up in hospital having surgery. It was one of those things, no-ones fault, but was incredibly stressful for everyone, the horses owner and the people who had him on trial. The owner was quite good about but it caused a lot of stress and has put everyone involved totally off ever having a horse on trial! It could have got so nasty and messy!

Tell them they can try him as much as they like at your yard. Even box him over to their yard, but don't let him stay away!

No, they said would there be the option of one if they liked him. I said no.

For me his new home is so important - think I may be turning a few people down....
