Firstly I'll start off with a double moan, the horse bit bank, are these just the worse company ever? Ive been trying to contact them for days, I need some advice on moving into a double bridle and Ive bought off them in the past without any problems, (plus you can just pay a hire price rather than paying for the whole bit) so I thought I would use them again, well after phoning all day with no answer, I sent them an email, to which Ive had no response!! So decided to speak to them at Your Horse Live, well i wish I hadnt, the person I spoke to was an idiot!!! Im not from a dressage background and dont know alot about double bridles/bits but this person was shocking! He didnt once ask me what horse I have, what, why I wanted a double, what the horse did to evade or anything, he just told me to start with a NS starter and bradoon, didnt advise on shank length or actions etc. RUBBISH!
However also got chatting to Sue Carson, who was super! I was really impressed with her bridles, and she also took me over to Morgan Equine stand and showed me their bits and advised me a weymouth and bradoon, asked lots of questions and explained her reasons behind her choice. I was gutted when I found out I couldn’t hire the bits, I dont really want to buy them as Im unsure on how the horse will take them, so questions: Do any of you have some advice, on a weymouth set I could get on trial, or is there anyone who uses Morgan Equine bits and would lend me them for 2 wks or so, I would happily pay.
Sorry for rant!

Was that the horse bit shop, as opposed to the horse bit bank? Think the Morgan stand had the informed designs bits on, so google those and you.may find a place that hires them?

Can't lend you mine because I use them all the time and would be worried sick about them going missing in the post. However, Hilary Vernon is supposed to be THE lady for fitting double bits. She did my horses and I'm very pleased with them. I have heard she has poor after sales service from various people, but that wasn't my experience.

If not try calling the bit bank and speaking to someone else, or call NS direct, I think they'll lend you some...

Thanks Polotash, Do you use the informed doubles or are they just snaffles? What was your horse wearing before you moved into the new bit?

Hi Ellie_e,
Just seen your post about double bridle bits. If you PM with your contact number I will get you one of our bitting advisors to call. Or PM what you are after and I will drop you a reply. With regards to YHL, not sure whom you spoke to as all HBS bitting advisors are female and their were three at YHL.
