Hi..does anyone have a mobile field shelter and live in Shropshire? I was just wondering what the council rules are re how often they have to be moved.
Thank you!

I built my whole yard (it was a rebuild of ramshackle farm buildings) and put in my manege without planning (far too much bother!) The planning officer came after me a couple of years later, nagged me a bit, then disappeared. Haven't seen him or heard from him in at LEAST 3 years! I honestly don't think you'll need to worry too much unless you have a nasty neighbour!

Hi thanks for the reply.
I wish that we had just gone ahead and done the same. It's turning into a nightmare trying to get planning and we are suffering from neighbour problems so have to do everything by the book.
I have to give the horses some shelter so I'm just going to get a mobile field shelter and see what happens or I could register as a smallholding and get pigs..lots and lots of pigs...and geese..very loud geese!!!
Tempting....

I dont live in Shropshire but like JanetGeorge only on a much smaller scale I bought a stable block on skids but we have since built onto it (not on skids) so really its no longer mobile.
No permission its been there a good while. I dont think you actually "have" to move it just be ABLE to if needed.

Some councils do insist on it being moved not just being moveable. Some even specify that you have to move it weekly or monthly and some even say that it cant go back on the same place within x period (up to a year). So be aware of that!

Also no hardcore or any surface stuff can be put down if you are wanting to argue it is temporary.

I would go through the proper channels if you have tricky neighbours, since you can bet they will shop you and councils do not like being put on the back foot. However, if turned down then I would follow your idea of getting an agric holding number and some sheep (who will be good for the horse paddocks and who of course will require a 'shed' to be sheared in/shelter in winter. Not your fault the horses wont let them get in there :-))

I have a 24x12 portable shelter and have not applied for PP never had to move it in 3 years. I can recommend county equestrian buildings, Kevin is excellent and I am very happy with my shelter

Thank you all for your advice on this. I think at I will have to check with planning as I'm sure that I'll have complaints if I don't.I've been in touch with Kevin from County Equestrian and he is being really helpful. So fingers crossed...I must get my horses some shelter as despite being native breeds at the first sign of wind or heavy rain they scuttle inside leaving my thoroughbred happily munching outside wondering where everybody has gone!

Thank you again!
