Hi, I'm pretty new to the board and usually just read but I'm hoping somebody is able to help me.
If anyone here has managed to get a mobile home as a sole residence on land that already has stables, storage and a floodlit menage-no previous dwelling or other outbuildings unfortunetely- please could you send me a pm with an outline of how you managed it?
The help would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks

Soph:)

I tried this a couple of years back and my application was refused. It depends on your area though and council - is your land green or brown belt, do you make your living off the land or some of your living. What other reasons do you have for wanting a dwelling there?

There are some ways round it as you can get certain log homes that are not classes as permanent structures but i believe you still need some form of permission to have these on your land - they fall under the caravan act as far as i am aware.

You are best off talking to a local planning officer first, bend their ear about what the chances are of getting it approved before you waste money with an application. I would still like to try for mine again in the future but at present i decided to buy a house instead! We had problems with ours though as our land is green belt with special provisions and, even though we have had stables on there for 20 odd years plus a couple of field shelters we couldn't get the log cabin submission passed.

good luck is all I'd say!!!

Thanks everyone. I'm pretty sure it is green belt, the floodlit menage surprised me but have checked the councils site and it is legit. It states on there that there is to be no dwelling and some other stuff without permission from the council. Is this normal wording or does this suggest hope?
I already own a house so can run the equestrian business but ideally I want to eventually get on site for security reasons and because it's a dream come true to have them on the doorstep, plus whatever reasons the council would need and I'm not in a huge rush!
I will definitely speak with a consultant.
