Mole hills in horses' field - problem or not?

Poopicking today, I have noticed that a mole has decided to move into our fields (not that I blame him, they are quite swish!) but there are now mole hills starting appear. There aren't that many at the moment but I've never had a mole in my paddocks before. Should I be concerned? Do I need to get some assistance to move the little thing along or can he stay? I'm just concerned that the horses may fall through the ground if he is tunneling around underneath. Am quite paranoid about rabbit holes.

We have lots of the little swines and mostly I let them be but every now and then call in the mole man to remove them!!

Our paddock is full of mole hills, they are quite shallow (nothing like rabbit holes) so I don't think they present much problem to horses. I tried to count the hills once but gave up when I passed 150!!

the tunnels are quite small so no particular worries. get the field chain harrowed occasionally and all the soil will disappear from whence it came.

My YO has them gassed sometimes, or at least he used to, I'm hoping he's given up. I feel quite sorry for them really, they are cute little fellas and as others have said, their tunnels are small so not really an issue. I've never seen one collapse. Whereas the rabbits run amok and there are hoof sized traps all over the place.

We have loads of the little blighters - but they don't cause a problem for the horses. The sheepdog likes to try and dig them up but thats about it for mole control!!

I've heard too that harrowing helps. We do our fields 3 x week as soon as they're dry enough & it seems to defer them. Except we're a bit stuck atm as our tractor's seriously ill.

Only a problem in field used for making haylage--soil in bales not good!!

I assume that all the little tunnels will improve the drainage in the fields too.
