Does anyone use Mole Valey High Fibre haylage? It doesn't say what grasses it's made of, so can anyone advise? I'm looking for the finest haylage, as my pony can't chew anything coarse. Silvermoor Veteran is shorter which is great, but it's still too coarse.

I have had a bag of it last year - didn’t keep any of the bags so can’t check the grass type for you. I don’t remember it being particularly fine though, sorry!

As far as I know Country Haylage make Mole Valley Haylage . I use the Country haylage meadow mix for my ems/cushings mare which I would say is generally softer than the high fibre but quite variable unless you can buy in bulk.x

It’s quite coarse. Some bales are softer than others, some drier and harder. High fibre haylage will be definition be coarse though, as ‘high fibre’ means you are getting a later cut so lower sugar.

It's very course. We've had a few, usually get Baillie hayledge but they have a two pallet min order and only need for the shetlands so got 20 bales of Mole Valley Hi Fibre stuff. They do eat it but it's definitely coarser than the Baillie stuff.

This is the problem I'm having with the meadow hay I'm currently getting, it varies. I was hoping bagged haylage might be more consistent, but it sounds like it isn't.

I have often used it over the past four years. It is second cut rye grass (details on back of bag) never had any issues. My retired mare is 26 and loves it.

In terms of fine haylage, have you tried the BurleyBale? The green one is pretty fine and soft, as is the pink. In comparison the blue horsehage I currently use for my horse is very, very coarse, though happily chewing isn't an issue yet.
