as title really one side of my field is totally over run with mole holes, im hoping to move them inot a summar paddock soon but want to try and get rid of the mole hills and try encourage some grass groth over them as takers up a lot of ground coverage?? any ideas or experiences blooming thngs are driving me mad as quick as i flatten the mounds they make some more

Do a search of yell.com for pest controllers in your area. Regular trapping is the only answer. A good mole catcher will charge per mole caught -- just make sure he comes recommended (check!) and produces the (fresh) evidence before handing over payment as it is not unknown for the unscrupulous to keep a few "spares" to produce if the farmer asks to see the catch!

Moles are very active just now as they are fattening up for the breeding season. Flatten mole hills with harrows or a heavy board (railway sleeper?) towed behind a 4x4.

I have the same problem! I just kick the molehills over and stamp on them as I poo pick, I don't think I can bring myself to harm those moley moles, I'm such a pansy :-(

I have loads of mole hills and its driving me potty! I googled how to get rid of them humanely and apparently if you stick some of those plastic children's windmill things into the mole hills they don't like the noise/vibration and will leave. I've not tried it yet but will do as soon as I can get hold of some. It said you don't have to put them in every hill (thank goodness) as the vibration will travel so I am going to knock down the others as apparently the soils is very good for the grass.

I dont like the thought of trapping them, have heard about the vibrations down holes as been a good method but i was told to get music cards like youd send to someone and pop them down the hole will, have to try and see if works keep me updated if the windmills work :)

Don't bother with them they don't work, the moles just move a little further away from them. We use traps and it is awful to see them but they wreck our garden and fields otherwise. I can't believe how big the mole hills are in my fields at the moment I think I have got elephants underground not moles!!:D
