Molly has a gentle intro to a cavesson and lunge line

She is nearly 3... she might start about 3.5..... see how it goes :)

Awww yeah, she is a proper baby still then. Since Tuesday, Molly has learned to go back when i open the stable door, wait at the stable door when I open it until I lead her out, have her feet hosed after coming in from the paddock, the teeny bit of work I cannot call lunging, lol. Oh...and she is fast learning not to paw out with her front legs. She doesn't strike out, it is just her baby impatient action but she is learning that it is not wanted :-)

Oh she is totally stunning! what a good baby girl, and so laid back!!!!

As an aside, you know my cob was bred by the gypsies, well we have had some issues because of that, and lunging is one of them. Me and my instructor (who is very experienced at lunging) have tried, but he just goes at full pelt - all the time! and once he's started, you just have to hang on until he runs out of breath and stops!! he will lunge on anything; lunge line, leading rein, I suspect a length of bailer twine as well but only at gallop. it is hilarious to watch ... and terrfying when you are on the end of the line!!! :D:D:D

Keep us posted on Molly's progress, won't you ... :D

Sounds like a real project Banner. Have one here that was the same so PM if you want to know how we sorted it :-)

Molly lunged properly today with the lunge whip and went out onto a proper circle bless her. Only doing 3-4 minutes on each rein then letting her have fun off the lunge, only she just wants to follow me like a puppy!

I love these tender first few days and weeks where they learn so much.
