This morning was one of those mornings that make you love having horses. I walked into the barn and Hovis looked up and gently whinnied to me.
No big deal for many of you but this is the horse that never ever makes a sound. Not to other horses, other humans and never to me. It actually made me go all gooey.
I love my big fur ball more than life itself and this morning really made me smile.
What about you guys? What moments have you had recently that make the down sides worth it all?

My p/l mare actually came to me yesterday in the field, I didn't even call to her :) she looked up whinnied, and came racing over to me.
Usually its us chasing her as she walks away, just fast enough to stop you catchig her.
Just makes you smile!

Its lush when they come over to see you in the morning thats really lovely!

When something happens without any fuss, when you were expecting a battle!

When ever I walk down to ards the field Vardi raises his head and looks then whickers and is waiting by the gate fo the full blown Hello mum when I get there.

Makes me go all gooey too!

Both of mine always cheer me up - mo matter how stressful a day ive had they are so loving - one of them will put his chin over your shoulder to hook you in close for a big cuddle and the other one plants massive kisses right in your face - they are both absolute angels and really make all the hard work worth while.

Try a well excited soooooooo pleased to see the wheelbarrow and you trying to pooh pick her field without assistance, 16 hd SFxID for your tastes!!!! It's whoooooo, little lifts like a circus horse and a great fat muzzle squished into your neck:eek::eek::D

It would be nice sometimes, but not every day!!

Had to get a lift to the yard today (my parents are away, only supposed to be going for lessons & saddle fitting!) simply to fill water buckets - was really annoyed and wont go into details. Also didn't have time to ride. And it was raining. And Dan's field is the furthest from the stables. And hilly. YAY!
But just as I finished filling the bucket the horses came running across the field and stopped to graze, but Dan came over for a fuss and a cuddle even though he normally wouldn't bother :) So spent about 10mins just stood in the pouring rain giving him a good scratch which he seemed to enjoy then let him wander off to go & graze & came back to the yard to dry off! Made the day much better :)

Madam is always cuddly when away at shows - seems to know it's me and her against the world, so I love show mornings, however early and however much poo she has rolled in!

But last weekend, despite being ragingly in season and accordingly a bit tight over her back, she tried so hard in her trail classes with both the OH and myself, I was so proud. She won both, but the result was irrelevant...I was floating on air long before it was announced :)

My 4yo being sat on for the first time last weekend after having the most turbulent life since the age of 8 months old.

Numerous injuries resulting in surgery to remove 4 cm of bone from a kick
Tendon injury playing in the field with buddies. Scanned 5 times in the last 12 months and education ceasing post futurity as a 3yo.
Scrapes/swellings, running into fencing as a youngster.
Peritonitis for a long period and being very poorly the last two months
Being a total swine hi ho Silver on his hind legs as some of you may remember.
Being the horse equivalent of Kevin the Teenager (according to my vet)

But overall an amazing achievement he reached 4 and has been sat on at Boarding school so that has made me realise it is worth it. And I am soooooooooo proud of my man at the moment

I've moved so I can walk to the yard on a morning - first few times I did it my boy, who is usually waiting with his head over the door was stood with his bum to the door half asleep - when I popped my head over the door he was all surprised and very confused. I realised he must have normally heard my car and been prepared before! Bless him, he looked genuinely confused!

Also, last night when we were having the hack from h*ll complete with pigs, tractors, squaling piglets and he had gone up, down, backwards, forwards, sideways and lots of spinning. It took me 10 minutes to get him into a farmyard we ride through complete with begging from me (along the lines of "please, please, please I've had a long day at work, this isn't how to spend an evening"). I was exhausted and we came across a big yellow generator, switched on, next to a field of pigs - at this stage I nearly cried at the thought of having to get him past it - and he walked past no problem! The relief was incredible!

Every moment i spend with Lucy makes it all worth it. All those years she was dangourous and i was told to have her shot. All the times she tryed to kick me in the head just for entering her field and all the times she threw me off for the first year i was able to ride her. That was all worth it for the 10 years of fun we have had since.
Now every morning she is still here to great me with her usual way of dimanding food and that i take her for a hand graze. Everytime i look into her eyes and see her and how much we love eachother makes the rollercoaster of the last 8 mounths since her diagnosis worth it to.
She is my best friend, my whole world and life just wouldn't be the same without her.
