Ok well good news and bad. He is hanging on in there we have thrown everything but the kitchen sink at him so will make this a list lol.

Good News:

His heart rate is down from 60 - 70 all last week to 48 so he is in less pain.

He is still happily lying down and getting the weight of his feet.

He is moving slightly better and with more ease.

He has had his blood test done for EMS and is on the thyroid and insulin meds (32 tablets a day!!!!)

The not so good news....

He is still in a hell of a lot of pain..

We still can't reduce his pain meds so his kidneys are still at risk though blood test will show that.

He has sunk on his hind feet too as they are taking the bulk of his weight.

He is only allowed 8.5kgs of soaked hay a day (poor boy)

Thank you to you all for all your messages and support if not for your guys would not even have known to test for EMS and his thyroid and insulin levels... Have attached pic of tommys medicine cabinet lol....

thanks guys... it was sad as the vet who has been treating him is away this week so we had his original vet who last saw him for his vacs three weeks ago when he was fit happy and ready to do HOYS heavyweight quals she was nearly in tears when she saw him.

She has pretty much said we can't do anymore he will either make it himself or not now. She wants imprint shoes on his hinds to support him fully and they being done this afternoon. Never thought would pay £900 for a set of shoes!!! Will never complain bout alloys again lol!!!

Pretty much she agrees he has made an improvement but he is far from being out of the woods.....

Poor you and poor him but glad he is improving .

Not sure if this is your thing but when Vardi was out of his face on painkillers , and an armoury of medication like your boy our homeopathic vet prescribed something called Drainage Comp by Groene Os which is a homeopathic remedy to help get rid of toxins and help combat the possible kidney problems. He also prescribed Strezz by Phytonics which is again homeopathic and just gives them a helping hand when they are feeling ill or been through the mill.

Both of these really helped him so just thought I would pass the info on.

My friend's Welsh cob is on umpteen tablets a day for E.M.S. She has to crush them up and put spearmint in his feed to disguise them. At his worst, he looked terrible, lame on all four feet. (laminitis in all four and rotation in the front ones) You wouldn't recognise him now. He still has imprint shoes on his front feet but is being ridden at walk and trot and is a very happy boy. I hope your lovely horse goes on well too.

Glad he's a little better...I do hope he continue's. Imprints really helped my boy on his road to recovery. I think his cost £160 for a pair of fronts...£900 seems a bit steep

Sorry I missed your original post - but loads of good wishes for you and your boy and fingers, hooves and paws crossed for a good recovery for him.

I know you are worried about a hundred and one things for him rigth now but whe you are ready look at the Laminitis Clinic website - has lots of useful info on management, feeding etc - ignore me if you have already done so!

Hope you get a good nights sleep soon.

Honeypots - its the guy who made the imprints doing him...as his feet are bigger than what the imprints go up to so he has to have custom ones made for him
