Just a bit of fun, horsey wise:

What were you doing 10 years ago?

What are you doing now?

What do you hope to be doing in 10 years time?

10 years ago I was 13, and had just started riding at my local riding school. 1 hour group lesson a week at 3pm every saturday.

Now I am 23. I have 5 horses, a shetland pony and a foal. I have evented up to 1* and Intermediate level. I am a freelance riding instructor, based at my parents as they have the land and yard I would never be able to afford!!!!!

In 10 years time at 33, I would like to still be in 1 piece!!!! Hopefully will have evented to a higher level (not saying which level as if you make plans you will always be dissapointed!). Have several horses to event, a couple of my own and a few owned by others. Have a large client base, and have done plenty of 'networking' to make sure i'm a well known face on the horsey scene in my area. God knows where I will be living as I will never be able to afford a yard like I have now, but I don't think I could cope living with my parents indefiantly......................

Now your turn........................

10 years ago i was 14.
I had a cracking 14.1 arab and had had him for about 2 years by then. I was going extremely fast all over the countryside! Having lessons on him and generally having masses of fun in the woods, common, fields etc.

Now, i have just got back into horses again. I own a horse a 14.2 ish x who im actually in the process of trying to sell as he is very difficult and needs someone who really wants a project. His sellers lied to me and i just dont have the time he needs, which is really upsetting.

10 years on, i hope to still have the horse that i will be replacing my current horse with.
Hopefully a 15.2 ish, ladies hunter type that will a)hack alone with out a mega battle of wills. b) not do a really nasty rear, leap, plunge, rein snatch combination whenever he gets het up. c) be a fun horse that i can do everything on.
I hope to be just having fun doing hunter trials, xc, local shows, indoor showjumping and going fast across the countryside with the same grin i had on my face as i had when i was 14 :-D
I also hope to have a trailer of my own :-D

10 years ago, I was 15 and I was on my very last straw of confidence, after ending up under a lorry in a very nasty riding accident the year before, things were getting worse and worse... had just been bought a new 'quiet old plod confidence giver' by my parents, to get me back on track, who turned out to be more of a handful than the horse who nearly killed me!! ...

I went on to give up riding 2 years after that and was out of the saddle for nearly 5 years

Now....thanks to a boot up the backside and finding a horse of a life time I am back in the saddle, have 2 horses - one is said horse of a life time, who is like a part of the family, and will be staying with me forever - a big beautiful shire cross who has now unfortunately retired, but is still my angel :) and an exracer who Ive had on loan for about six months - am reschooling him at the moment, we've started coloured poles and baby jumps - I hope in the near future that we will start going out doing a few shows, and then see how it goes, whatever he is comfortable doing really.

Future... to have a go affiliating and to get to a respectable level, and have lots of fun en route!

humble I guess but considering it was not very long a go that I couldnt even ride my own horse in walk off the lead rein without shaking and hyperventilating - I never even thought I would get to where I am today and ride a TB???!! lol - In my dreams (or nightmares!! lol) so where ever we go from here, will be good enough for me (as long as its onwards and upwards!!)

10 years ago I had just bought my first horse, a wonderful 15hh Irish cob who could turn a hoof to everything. 10 years on I have two kids, one evil tempered veteran dartmoor pony who can turn a hoof to anything and a wussy coloured shetland (on loan from my YO). Alas, poor Velvet passed away of old age (she was 13 when we got her) in November after a very happy 10 years together. We are just about to take delivery of a two year old highland pony who we are hoping will grow into a great family friend. Quite daunting, taking on a youngster! In 10 years I hope to see my eldest daughter starting uni and for all of us to have had a lot of fun on what will then be a 12 year old highland. Who knows, the highland might be joined by another - I love the breed!

What were you doing 10 years ago?
Errr... I'd have been 6, so riding once a week at the local riding school, probably on Midnight or Stumpy - both shetland/shetland x's :D I was tiny, if brave xD I could walk/trot/canter off the leadrein, might have even popped a small jump by then?

What are you doing now?
Anything?! xD Now I have a 15.2 (just turned) 6yo and am doing Prelim & Novice dressage, and jumping 2'6/2'9 on him & some XC, most of the work done myself as we bought him as a 4yo. I also have my 11.1 first pony who is just as naughty as he started off almost! I'm enjoying riding and schooling youngsters when I can :D

What do you hope to be doing in 10 years time?
Dressage! I'd love to take Dan to Elementary within a year, not sure how much higher he'll go, so we'll see. But I'd love to find myself a cracking, SMALL, youngster to bring on and compete to a high level, maybe along side an older horse who I can keep on as it shows me the ropes. (if I win the lottery!) Aside from that, I'd love to instruct, or school youngsters/ponies as it's what I enjoy! :)

Just a bit of fun, horsey wise:

What were you doing 10 years ago?
Being bucked off continously by a little bugger of a pony who knew how he could get me on the floor :p
What are you doing now?
Attempting to educate a youngster, haha that's not going too well ;)

What do you hope to be doing in 10 years time?
Competing BE,BD,BS(JA) on said youngster and just having a happy healthy horse! :D

Now your turn........................

....

10 years ago, I had my beautiful 13.2HH pony with whom I hunted and show jumped (unaffiliated) and was in the twilight of his life.

Now, I have a young 14.3HH mare who is just perfect for me in every way.

In 10 years time, I will hopefully be living in the house (with attached business) that we are in the process of buying. My current pony will (hopefully) be living on our land and will have a companion in the shape of my daughter's pony (that I have yet to buy :p).

Hopefully, happy days :)

What were you doing 10 years ago?
May have *possibly* been having my very first riding lesson, or if not quite then, I wasn't horsey in the slightest!
Lived in the surburbia too.

What are you doing now?
Live at work [showing] on an estate in the middle of the country.
Still own my first pony, but she's out on loan now as too small for me.
Sold my second pony and have my third horse currently now.
Rode the cob in one of his classes at Windsor this year and have the TGCA finals, hopefully, this year.
Hunting during winter.
Pootle about every now and then doing local stuff also - fun rides, etc.

What do you hope to be doing in 10 years time?

Be a hell of a lot richer and wiser! Lol. And competing a lot more.
Other than that, not really thought about it!

10 years ago i was 6 and hadn't discovered the ups and downs of horses yet.

Now.... I'm buying my first horse, off to boarding school in septemeber taking my horse with me to compete every weekend and get taught by karen dixon:eek: and oh yes... doing bl00dy A levels in between ;)

In 10 years time, i hope to be happy, healthy and enjoying life with my horse eventing!:o:rolleyes:

10 years ago horsy was about medium level working well and winning well. I was working my bottom off as a Junior Dr.

Now horsy basically retired (lame again this week :( ) and I'm looking for a new project -- showing not dressage. Cobby not Warmbloody

10 years time -- I've always promised myself for my 40th a beautiful big heavy weight show /working hunter... so should have him by then Oh and I'll be rich beyond my wildest imagination, have a big private yard with an indoor school/ and out door 60 x 60 school, solarium, and a human indoor swimming pool... oh and a ski chalet in Val D'isere...

Well a girl can dream can't she??

10 Years ago I was 7, probabley just learning to ride at a yard that was only open 6 months of the year. First pony I rode was a dun called Smudge. We were taught to canter like jockeys!

Now, I have my second pony (I only had my first for 1 and a bit years) and am really getting into jumping and the more crazy stuff!

In 10 years time I hope to still have my pony and I KNOW that if I do, we'll still have no brakes! :D

10 years ago i was 13 and had owned a nappy 14.2hh for a year and had spent 90% of that time clinging to his back as he reared and reared and reared!

now, i have BE evented, worked in international dressage and then eventing yards, done a bit of buying and selling and currently have 2 x young horses- 1 just starting eventing and the other just broken.

in 10 years time i would like to be earning enough to have a house with land so i can keep the horses at home, have gone a few more rungs up the eventing ladder and have a few broodmares out in the field producing lovely foals.

10years ago I was 14 and still only dreaming of having my own horse!

I was working after school/weekends at a hunting yard, where I got to SJ the hunters in the summer and hunt in the winter on an old pony, an ex racer or one of the 3 "big boys!" I would have been bloodhounding and hunting the occasionaly weekend and school holiday meet :) I used to hunt a 17.2hh oldenburg over big readyfield country!! I had previous begged, borrowed and stolen horses at a dressage livery yard to ride, and been lucky enough to have lessons on a grand prix school master, so was into dressage too :)

Now I have worked on a international eventing yard, groomed at some amazing events, competed at BE on a home produced horse that I brought as a just backed 3/4yr old from Ireland, helped turn around a couple of horses and brought and sold 2 of my own, including my first horse who I hunted over country I could only have DREAMED of hunting over, and still gives me goose bumps to think about ;)

In 10years time I would like to be seriously rich, (lottery anyone?! :p ) in a well earning job that allows me the flexibility to climb the ladder with my horse, possibly a foal of the mare I have now :p :D

10 years ago I was 6... riding at a riding school, plus loaning/friend's ponies :)

Now (16)... have a 14.2hh Connie mare.... doing all PC stuff, mainly eventing (PC intermediate) and just having fun :)

10 years... who knows!! As long as horses feature somewhere :)

Ten years ago I was 18 in the PC with a rearing horse who used to ditch me at every comp, and every rally but I'd had him 4 years by then and had learnt to not cry ;) Sold him when I went to Uni.

Now - have lovely 10yo who have had for 6 years  and compete BS and RC eventing - don't do badly, but lack of time and funds hinders us! Hope to compete Foxhunter in the next year or so......

10 years from now - will be rich (!) with a 20yo grade A ;) and a younger horse. Will likely have some ponies around for the kids  that will no doubt be around by then......

How did I get this old?! :D

10 years ago I was 16. I had 2 horses, one of which I had since age 11, the other I had just got. I had finished my GCSEs and was very happy having a summer of hacking, partying and horses before going to college.

Now I have no horse, but my riding has improved massively

In 10 years time I hope to have another horse

10 years ago i was 7... had a little section C mare who was our studs main breeding mare but she was given 2 years of for me too ride, hunt, show, jump etc. best pony i ever had!

now i have two amazing 3 yr olds to bring on.. 1 a ISH and the other a ID. im hoping to show them both as my family are into showing in the summer and hunting in the winter. id also like to get them jumping to a decent level.

in 10 years time i hope to have more horses to produce and show. and hopefully make a buisiness of producing other peoples horses aswell as my own.

10 years ago my 1st pony was for sale- I'd had him for 2 years and very sadly outgrown him.
Sold him, made 4 times the amount and bought Solo- definately my horse of a lifetime- he's nice one minute, horrible the next, but that's how he is!! Been there, done that with him, he's not in much work at the moment as he is happiest mooching about not doing much! (think early retirement with a hack out twice a week!!)
Also have Red, who is 23, and now turning his hooves to Veteran showing.
In 10 years time I'll be 31, hopefully still have my two boys and a couple more!!

Why is everyone else all still very young 10 yrs ago!!! lol
ok - ten years ago - 34 yrs - married with several business, and two horses and competeing twice a week either Hunter trials / eventing / dressage. Freelance instructing and PC instructing.

Now - Divorced, orginal two horses sadly now no longer with us - one an accident in the field and the other pts age related. Complete change of business proud owner of RS with 43 horses, teaching , riding and yard work 24/7 !! (wouldn't change it) Have fab dressage horse, no longer jumping due to a broken neck injury 3yrs ago. Survived a cancer blimp, met new partner. V Happy

10yrs plus - looking forward to retirement - playing ponies at my leisure and possibly time for a holiday ! May also have a bit of money !!! LOL

10 years ago when I was 17 I was jumping my (now retired) Akhal Teke over 1.20m fences (would I now?! Hmm...!) and playing around with dressage but now realise what awful flatwork instructors I had! Far too much long and low and airy fairy in front, no wonder I preferred jumping and XC back then!

Now I own a dressage bred WB who was my first young horse and I can finally say I've competed in affiliated dressage and think I finally "get it" lol.

In 10 years time I would actually like to be poorer by doing my day job only part time and spending more time riding, training and competing!

I was 18,having a lot of fun with horses again after leaving a WP job and had started saving to buy a horse.
Now,well a child came along so that horse never did :p and I am still without one of my own,LOL!
Working on taking the BHS stages, been out of the loop for a while so it is a shock to the system :o

10 years time? Well, hopefully the stages will be behind me :p and child will be nearly 16 so hope to have freedom to compete without guilt :p
Oh,and that bloody elusive horse of my own! :D

Wow, just realising how young everyone is and consequently feeling rather old...

10 years ago, just started second university degree in Nottingham and found a house based entirely on distance to riding stables which turned out to be the most fantastic riding stables and an excellent way to escape from the rigours of PhD work.

Now, have restarted having riding lessons again (previously lots of hacking) and discovering muscles I didn't know I owned let alone used. Also contemplating buying my first horse - something I'd promised myself I'd do before I was 30, sadly 30 has slipped on by.

In 10 years time, my boss thinks I'll still be in science, I'm hoping to be running a dog kennels - ideally with said pony/horse grazing in the garden. Oh, and I'll be rich enough to afford all this. Well, a girl can dream right?
