What a wonderful race horse he is, watched him this afternoon at Aintree win his race at 12 years old. A front runner who never missed judged a fence, ears pricked and loving every moment of it. He is adored by his owner, trainer and trainers daughter, this is the good side of racing. He reminds me very much of the Great Dessie, such scope over a fence. Thank god we are getting back into the NH season and we can watch all these wonderful chasers in action again.

I now have a sore throat from screaming at the tv the dog was looking at me like i had gone mad again and my son even left his ps3 to come and see what alll the noise was,i was galloping up and down on the sofa willing him along like a loony.
I thought he was beaten at one point but he really dug deep he is lovely so glad he won was a bit teary eyed what a saddo i am.

Lol, I did the same, my dogs ran upstairs. I still had wet eyes 5 minutes later! I just whished we could have had an interview with Nicky afterwards, bet he was bawling too.

Ahh TF, I was a bit the same, rode every yard from the last fence with him, fortunately, apart from sleeping spaniels, I was alone!! Absolutely love watching these old chasers in action.

I missed his race cos I was at dog training class but I was hoping he would win :) On the subject of greys I'm looking forward to seeing the return of Neptune Collonges. He was somewhat in the shadow of Kauto and Denman but a useful chaser nonetheless before his injury. Hope he gets back to his best :)

My OH made me go out and help empty the mucktrailer. He doesn't understand National Hunt, mind you he was fixing my old banger most of the afternoon and as he gives piano lesson to 2 kiddies at 6pm and we are getting some straw tomorrow. He wanted it done and out of way,but we got back in plenty of time, so I could have seen the race, as I love Monet, what is it about greys in racing.:):):):):)

Lots to agree with here:D Great horse, looking wonderful and how nice to see older horses still running well and looking as if they're enjoying themselves.

What a fantastic horse he is, brought tears to my eyes to see the way he battled, he wasn't letting anyone get past, he is all that is fab about National Hunt racing :)

It is also all about loving your racehorses, the connections do!! Tears of joy will be shed at Greystoke tonight! Drink will be drunk and headaches will be put up with in the morning.

Lovely horse and I'm £25 better off as wellhttp://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif

I watched the race and he was fab. There was no way he was going to let that other horse beat him (although it lookec close at one point!), he just out-jumped them all.
