I currently own a pedigree, but I have owned a mongrel. Nowt wrong with a nice mongrel! Although hate this 'designer' breeding that is going on. £700 odd quid for a cross bred? Don't think so chuck!
1st dog was a Springer x Retriever?? (Owner of the Springer was a breeder, but the bitch got out, before she could be mated with the chosen stud dog ***wish I could see milor as they recoil in horror, that a pedigree breeder could be so irresponsible***
I now have a JR x - Basically a farm bred ratter, with all sorts of terriers in the mix...............double shock horror, he has a tail too
Don't get the impression I'm not anti pedigree, my brother has two labs and a springer which are lovely (O.K I wouldn't have the Springer as a gift, it's a nutter and a walking vets bill!!). I choose my mongrels, coz the 1st one needed a home, but was a super dog and got the JR x as wanted a small dog, who was used to being around horses, chickens, duck etc...
All are rescued...so I get brownie points for that.
I have a whippetxgreyhound
Salukixgreyhound
Rotti
Akita
Deerhound
New addition Wire haired pointer
In general I dont pick and choose......some just have to stay at the end of the day for various reasons.....but I do love my lurchers, whippets and G.s.ds but like I said they would have to come in a a rescue I would never willingly purchase a dog.

Absolutely! For our new dog next year, I'll either be searching on Petfinder to check shelters for a medium-sized friendly mix, or I'll be going to a show breeder for a dog from genetically tested lines.
For me, there's nothing in between, and I certainly wouldn't pay big bucks for a "puggle" or some such nonsense.
Seven of ours are proper pedigree dogs and the 3 Jacks are pedigree in the sense that they're not crossed but they don't have a KC reg pedigree - does that make sense?
Nowt wrong with mongrels/crossbreeds. Our first dog was a mongrel, she was a staffxlabxsomething or other LOL and she was wonderful.
1 collie x and a damnation.
Collie x is far more intelligent than the danmation - although you cant help but love the damnation as she is soooooooo stupid.
Mine is a pedigree... but not averse to mongrels if they are rescues.
Hope I don't offend anyone - but I wouldn't buy a pet bred mongrel as a puppy... I don't really agree with that, I think breeding should really be left to the experts.
We have a Jack russel terrier, and 2 crosses, one staffie cross border terrier and 1 jack russel cross basset hound!
All were rescue dogs and were got for that reson not what breed they were!
I have a Lab x Collie and a springer love them both. They are as mad as each other.
Libby is my 1st mongrel she was give to us whe she was 14weeks old as her previous owners couldn't deal with the mess
I mean puppy and mess go figure!!
Before that we have own Staffies,Dalmations,Labs and GSD all have been rescued from the age of 5 months up.
The springer was the only 1 I have paid for and he came to rep breeder and good working lines we paid £300 for him and I think worth every penny he is totally great with the kids and horses.(and so cute)
7 Belgian Shepherd Dogs you can see them on www.lebeaubelgians.com - I work my dogs in Agility (when I can keep up with them !) - do basic obedience - Cani-Cross - and show them at Open and Champ show level -I have owned this breed for over 20 years and am passionate about these amazing dogs !
i have both a pedigree staffie and a mongrel chihuahua cross jack russell who has never ailed anything and is very clever.i love all dogs would not want to say what is best.
i have a pedigree kc siberian husky-love the breed and she is a rescue!!!! shw on best in show last month at a fun dog show too!
once youve had a husky you wont have anything else-nothing wrong with mongrels just personal preference!
I have a boxer, a lab and a purebred lurcher (as in Lurcher x lurcher designed and bred to do a job, all generations known for a long way back, has royal connections as he goes back to Sandringham gamekeepers dog)
I have a pure bred Lab, and a pure bred cocker spaniel. I dont mid mongrels but wouldnt choose them personaly, unless they are the best dogs for a certain job.
