Better late than never, as usual with my reports!

Dr was OK, got 41 which was rather disapointing - felt he deserved slightly better, maybe a 36 or so? Put us right out of contention with that rubbish mark

- some clever people were getting in the 20's

SJ was not that bad (by our standards) - had two down, and looking at the results today there were very few clear rounds. I was really pleased cos he cleared the last fence with a huge jump

and loads of others had been having it down (it was in shade & very difficult to see). My style was just

over the SJs of course!

And XC he was awesome again

- I had walked the course and felt it was OK, and he just stormed round it. Had a slight mishap at fence 4 - it was an easy enough fence but he had been very strong across an open field and I couldn't slow him down enough to make the turn properly. Luckily the lovely fence judge agreed with me that I hadn't presented him initially so got through unpenalised - it just meant time penalties as we were 2 seconds over the time. All the fences I had been slightly concerned about - fence 10 was step into water, then step out, then a second bigger step - he just flew through and never hesitated over anything

At last I realise why people go eventing - after being totally petrified for the last 3 years, I am now loving it every time

Novice beckons next year I think

- ETS well, maybe, if I ever achieve my current goal of a top 10 placing in an OPN class! Only 17th this time...

Well done! It was a lovely course I thought, and I shall be deffo going back next year, to jump the straight routes I hope!

I think a name change is now in order for you....

Thank you! I see you had a good day too, lots of people seemed to be coming to grief on the Novice track when I was walking the course, so VERY well done on going clear

It was my first time at Monmouth & I liked it too so will be there next year again I hope!

That was our 3rd PN event together (well, our 3rd BE event together!) - how many do I do before I really qualify for a name change though

Three is more than enough - I have done two Novices, one of which I fell on my head at, and I now say I event at Novice level - because I do, just not spectacularly successfully! Go on, you've earnt the name change!

Well done really glad you enjoyed yourself. It sounds like you can look forward to having some fun at Novice next year. Trouble with OPN is that the dressage is always red hot so you may find more of a chance of a placing at Novice.
