Better late than never, as usual with my reports!
Dr was OK, got 41 which was rather disapointing - felt he deserved slightly better, maybe a 36 or so? Put us right out of contention with that rubbish mark
- some clever people were getting in the 20's
SJ was not that bad (by our standards) - had two down, and looking at the results today there were very few clear rounds. I was really pleased cos he cleared the last fence with a huge jump
and loads of others had been having it down (it was in shade & very difficult to see). My style was just
over the SJs of course!
And XC he was awesome again
- I had walked the course and felt it was OK, and he just stormed round it. Had a slight mishap at fence 4 - it was an easy enough fence but he had been very strong across an open field and I couldn't slow him down enough to make the turn properly. Luckily the lovely fence judge agreed with me that I hadn't presented him initially so got through unpenalised - it just meant time penalties as we were 2 seconds over the time. All the fences I had been slightly concerned about - fence 10 was step into water, then step out, then a second bigger step - he just flew through and never hesitated over anything
At last I realise why people go eventing - after being totally petrified for the last 3 years, I am now loving it every time
Novice beckons next year I think
- ETS well, maybe, if I ever achieve my current goal of a top 10 placing in an OPN class! Only 17th this time...
