Anyone have any experience of this place. I need to send my gelding to rest for a year and it looks and sounds lovely but its some distance from me so just wondered if anyone has a horse there. PM me if preferred.

I have 2 friends who each have a horse there, and they are really happy with it. Horses seem to be very well and content.

Hope you find somewhere for your gelding :o)

Thank you - thats what I wanted to hear. I am planning to drive him down asap & I won't have viewed it beforehand so was hoping someone could give me a good review.

How much does retirement livery cost? I have a friend desperately seeking something reasonable for her lad who is arthritic and asthmatic. We are in Devon and I'd never heard of this place!

I just found it by googling retirement livery. Lady sounds really nice. I wanted somewhere he can live out 24/7. Obviously cost is dependent on horse type, size & if they need feeding or not. She quoted me £32pw with hay when needed and regular foot trimming. A lot cheaper than in Surrey!

Hi Alex
I realise your post was a while ago now, but did you ever place your horse at Monshall in Devon ?

We're looking for a retirement home for our pony and were wondering whether Monshall lives up to its website description.

Many thanks for any advice you can give
Kevin

I visited Monshall for my gelding. I would have had no hesitation in sending him there but it was a very long way from my home. Luckily I found a great retirement home for him within an hour's drive of my house, but Monshall was great. Natalie who runs it is a very genuine person, horses were happy, healthy and allowed to be horses.

Monshall is fabulous!

Nat is one of the worlds best horsewoman and then some!

I have seen her children grow up from babies to teenagers!!!!

The horses are so well cared for they never want to leave!

There is a holiday home there so you can stay there

The farm is organic as well if I remember rightly

Hi, I did send him there yes. Been there 2.5yrs now & he loves it! I've only been able to visit 3 times but trust Nat completely to look after hiim. She puts loads of photos on facebook or emails so you can see how they are.

The horses are so well cared for they never want to leave!

Foraday you are so right, I really need to bring my boy back and see if his tendon will hold up to some work but I feel very guilty. He is so happy with a big hairy coat, fat tummy and lots of friends don't think he'll ever want to come home.
