A bit of background for those that dont know about Monty.
5yo full ID
Owner bought him recently to bring on for dressage but she would also like him to do some jumping which is where I come in.
He has only had 4 short jumping sessions so far and only over poles and small grids. Not introduced fillers at all yet.
Canter is still very much a work in progress.

So off we toddle to keysoe yesterday for the clear round evening.
Height starts at 60cm which I though would be good as he's never seen a course of fences. What I didn't expect was to have fillers in the course, only poles. Wrong.
Warm up was ok if a little on his toes with other horses wizzing past him.
In the ring his eyes came out on stalks. trotted round till he settled and then tried the course. I wasn't pushing him as he really is very genuine, just completey confused by the fillers and sights.

I then took he straight round again. You can see the difference immediately.
He got the idea they were just jumps

Waited a while then had a pop round the 70cm.
Emphasis was on getting him thinking forward to his fences, nothing more.

back in two weeks and well start off at 70cm and also do the 80cm.

He's a lovely looking chap and seems very genuine!

Looks like he will get the hang of it in no time :)

Will you be taking him to moulton unaff in March?

Colivet - thank you. Will be interesting to see how he develops.

NM - I think letting a horse work it out themselves without too much pressure pays dividends later on. If they take the mick then thats a different matter ;)

Emma S - quite possibly going to do Moulton Unaff. Also jumping my daughters horse there and possibly another aswell. Looking to do first BN in april so the MC 90cm would be a good intro and I know Graham will build a nice inviting course (coz i help him).

KK - not sure how he's bred. Must look at his passport sometime as people keep asking me. Agree re dressage. He will work much lighter than the vid shows. My focus was just on keeping him forward around the course. Finesse can come later :o

I will keep an eye out for you there, would be nice to see how he's come one then :)

I will be there on a big grey TB, he'll be the one hooning round the 90cm in a hackamore and leaving the arena with about 20pens, SJ isnt our forte ;) he doesnt understand they are supposed to stay up!

I didnt know you helped Graham course build, I do like the courses he puts up, always flow well.

Lovely horse and obviously loves your sympathetic approach. The improvement in the 3 vids is brilliant- he looks like he's trying to show you that he knows what he's doing by the 3rd one!

What a lovely, genuine horse, can understand why you like him, fantastic attitude too. Grey ID's rock in my eyes ;):D I bet you're looking forward to an exciting summer with him :)

His breeding is Sire: Crosstown Dancer (G.Sire Flagmount)
Dam: Third Lady (G.Sire Diamond Lad)

Lovely seeing him coming on so well
