Does anybody have a mare that is lovely towards their owner (me) but doesn't seem to like other people expecially when they are in her stable.
My mare is the most gentle girl but when she is in her stable she really dislikes other people other than me going in to do things, i don't know whether she is a bit unerved by other people or whether its a personal space issue, and i don't know how to overcome it, should i keep letting people in the stable so she gets used to it or just respect her space and leave her to it?

Maybe she just really trusts you and respects you...

id keep allowing people to go in, one at a time, just occasionally at first, maybe get them to groom her so that they can spend a bit of time bonding with her and then generally increase the amount of times people see her from 2/3 times a week to once a day etc so that she gets used to it.

maybe u being present with a stranger would help at first? and then wean her onto people on their own?

what exactly does she do?does she nap?bite?barge?
or is she just a bit shifty and beady eyed when other people come in her stable?

I think it does help if i'm there, cause i can growl at her.

Generally she puts her ears back and the other day when i wasn't there she wouldn't let the farrier in her stable, so he couldn't shoe her, he said she kept turning her back end on him.

However normally butter wouldn't melt!!!

I would say she goes all shifty and occasionally beady eyed!! Evil girly
