Hello, I really need some advice about my mare. When I ride her ears are always pinned back as far as they can go she is never happy! Everything has been checked, you name it I've done it, it is all behavioural I have run out of ideas of what it can be.
She is youngster and been backed for over a year.
Nothing is wrong inside, she has had a scope for ulcers and ovary scan.
She is always in season, in a herd with geldings, maybe this is why?
Maybe she's like it cause if being in season.
Be grateful for any advice, or any tips?

thank you

Vicky

Yes I backed her myself.
Yeh she's good although can be moody and be a pain to tack up, but walking along in hand gone her ears do go back when get her to trot sometimes

As the lameness isn't visible doesn't mean there isn't pain somewhere. I would have a work up done. I would also have a look at the symptoms for PSSM and see if she matches any of that.

I only have mares, have had lots of mares. The only ones that have been properly grumpy have had an issue somewhere.

I mean she doesn't match the description of pssm, I've had the vets out several times to do all sorts of tests, and found nothing they checked for lameness also, so am very unsure what to do next x

Yeh I have an instructor with her and they say same as we have tried everything which leads it to behaviour and her just being very moody just can't get my head around it and am worrying we are missing something.
She is only 5 and Arab there for is very trying and battles against me all time but maybe just a youngster thing and she don't like being told what to do!

You could try her on some regumate?

Being an Arab I find in general that they are quite expressive I have 2 and can read them quite easily I find they tend to not show displeasure for nothing.

I would be concerned that there is something going on but it's not been found, really awkward situation if only they could speak.

Is she easy to ride?

She sounds quite unhappy when you say she doesn't like being told what to do what do you mean give an example of a situation.

How is your saddle fit? Can you ask your instructor to get on her and see how she goes with another rider?
I have a mare and was told for years that her issues were just behavioural when in fact was pain due to KS. Would always get a full work up if a horse was behaving like this with no apparent reason.
