Just a general moan, not that this has happened to me recently, but a certain indoor venue in the south west get quite grumpy on the end of the phone when you ring them for dressage times and if you ring late you are lucky to get them at all. i have been questioned as to why i phoned up late once (but it was a one off). Seeing as they have their own website wouldn't it just be far easier to post them up there, then they would hardly get any calls!! common sense... I haven't dared suggest this idea in fear of getting my head bitten off!!! I sure you know where i mean!!

The only time I have called late was when I had totally forgotten I was competing at all

I was in the organiser's bad books for about a year! Not surprising though really, I would hate to have the job of handing out times TBH especially when numpties forget to ring on time

My RC offers times over the phone for the technophobes amongst us, or online for easy availability. It's a recent introduction but I'm sure it makes life a lot easier for the organisers.

I know what you mean, espec the show centres where they are running shows to make money, just be nice, you've invited us to enter and ring for times.!!

I called early once by accident cos I didn't want to miss out & the internet was down at work so couldn't check when to call. Quite a well known venue in the SE that does affil dr & SJ. Got an extraordinarily rude & grumpy person on the phone who is also the owner, so e-mailed her to let her know that next time, a polite, 'sorry, the times won't be ready til x; could you phone back then' would suffice.

I'm not normally so assertive but we go there a lot & the rudeness was totally unprovoked.

I've suffered this as well!

The EC's website said times would be available by phone or posted online. So I sat and waited for them to come online, and they didnt. So I phoned the next day (after the designated phoning day) and had a very grumpy person on the phone complaining at me for phoning...but I was waiting for online times that they hadn't put up as 'entries were low'. Well its not my faults entries were low and they didnt put them online as they stated they would!!

There is one up North as well! I refuse to compete there because the owner/organiser has been so rude to me on the phone. It is hardly a good way to run a business if you offend your customers!

i think i am thinking of the same place in the south west. its near holt/melksham in wiltshire, not sure if i can name it specifically.

anyway one of the ladies who works there is just sooo rude on the phone and often in the flesh as well! one is really, really nice but the other is just so rude.

manners and common courtesy go a long way i think. it makes such a difference if the people at a venue are nice as it makes you want to go back and compete again. lts not much to ask.

For our RC I only put times on the website and don't advertise a number to call. It does help that I manage the website so can post the times the day before.

I have been on two sides of this....I always apologise profusely if I ring late for times and offer to call back if the organiser doesnt have them with her. I have never been given a hard time but would expect them to be a little annoyed.

I have also given out time....and had people ring at 7am the following morning....10.30pm at night and it is incredibly annoying. I am usually polite but rarely get an apology and people do seem to expect that they can ring at any old time and you are carting the times about with you.....
