I went to watch a moonlight steeplechase this evening and on the last race just in front of where we were standing a 13yr old girl had a nasty accident. they were racing right handed in a circle around big round bales, the girl was on the inside and collided with the round bale knocking it over

her horse tryed to jump it, poor girl was unconcious (sp) on ground,
ST Johns was in attendance but to say they were slow is an understatment, I dont know if the girl came round but they put her on a body board and into the ambulance, must have took them half an hour, I followed the ambulance out of the field, then they pulled over into a farmyard, as the emergency service was coming in the other way, I dont know what happend, at this point as we went home.
But I must admit that I was shocked that an air ambulance wasn't called. I just hope the poor girl is OK

Excuse my ignorance but what is a Moonlight steeplechase I've never heard of one...but by the sounds of it

...just hope the poor girl is alright...

Not sure, I would call it pony racing for non professionals, I think many years ago it was done by car headlights, but this one started at 5pm so was still daylight.

I didn't realise Moonlight Steeplechases actually took place! - have only read about them in books

Fingers crossed for the little girl xx

Yes, my friend's mum went on one many years (I nearly said moons) ago. I think they draped sheets over the bales they were jumping and I'm pretty sure it was a hunt organised thing. And it was midnight!

I once went on a midnight ride - in full moonlight. It was really exciting!

I am so glad your OK and your horse, It happend so quick and was horrable to watch, it looked like you were out cold. I was a bit
