Weather was sooo awful down there but at least we didnt have to run on the hard- it was positively muddy when I ran xc!!

Dressage- we were a bit late getting on (long story) so only had 15mins to get her settled and she didnt really warm up particularly well. She tried really, really hard in the test though and I felt it was the best test she has done, she is starting to find her balance in the transitions and she did 3 beautiful centre lines

She got 38 which was a little worse than I was expecting but she was first horse in the arena.

Sj, well we had hours to wait before jumping and the rain really came down hard which upset her as it made a bit of a loud noise in the lorry! So had a bit of a stressed Moon. Luckily stopped when I went to warm up and she warmed up ok. She jumped nicely, just had one pole going away from collecting ring where she took her focus off.

Xc, course was lovely, pretty easy but with mini questions she's likely to encounter at novice so it was good for her. She skipped round very sweetly, gave me a nice feel and really said it was all very simple!!

So pleased with my girl, sound as a pound and very positive attitude at the moment.

For those doing the **, the track looks lovely, Eric's kept it basically the same but with changes to the combinations- the first water looked like it needs bold riding, the triple mid-way now has a back bar on the 3rd element so I think is a tad more tricky than last year.

well done!

One of my friends was there today & she was moaning yesterday saying that the XC was too hard!!

But i have seen the course & agree that it appears quite easy, although I haven't actually ridden it!

Oh good, glad she enjoyed herself and sounds a bit better behaved than pontispool

Yes! I think Pontispool was due to no turn out for 2 weeks, she does like to have a run around in the field! She was far more sensible, no leaping and much more concentration

She looked lovely going round the XC, I didn't pick up your dressage sheet, it started raining again and I went home, but I asked LEC's OH to get it for you.

Thanks, LEC said she'd scan and email it to me

Well done. Sounds like a good day considering the awful weather.

We have 11 horses staying at ours over the weekend all from Longleat. I roped one family into helping me bring the mare and foal in this evening, poor guys had travelled for hours to get here.

Good luck thoses competing over the weekend.

Yes but then she threw a spilnt and wasnt 100% so she had to have some time off, we're trying again at Stonar!!

Sounds like a lovely day all round, can't wait to see how everyone else got on now. Moon is such a clever girl isn't she....

I'm sure she enjoyed a bit of a cut in the ground.

She looked v confident in the video, expecially the coffin which seemed to have a fairly steep slope between the first part and the ditch.

Well done, Moon was a star, only sorry you were on so much earlier than me so I couldn't see any of it.

I had a lovely day there and it was great to see you again - in fact it was great to see everyone. B pulled a shoe XC, although is totally sound and dragged me across the stony gravel path to his field without so much as an uneven stride, so why I spend £60 on shoes every 5 weeks I have no idea!!

Fab event, loved it, really reminded me why I event, just a great day.

Loved the video .Glad you all had a great time. No results up yet did you get placed?

[/ QUOTE ]

Doubt it, probs without the pole she'd have picked up 10th or something, didnt stay to see!

I have scanned your test and emailed it! But your Pms are full!

Thankyou!
There appears to be a whole mark missing but thats probs just from the scan, I think I can predict it was a 6!

If I'd finished on my dressage I'd have been about 10th (i.e. 10th got 36.5 which was my dressage but they had SJ faults so I suppose it would have come down to who was closer to OT XC?). As it was a pole and some time penalties XC (he pulled a shoe) shoved us down the order, though god knows where we actually came.

Have to say the XC was more straightforward than I was expecting, had heard it was tough but I felt it was really nice and SLM was harder.

It was easy, it generally is but it does catch a few out, no idea why! I suppose that brush thing was a bit bigger and a couple were a bit spooky in the trees
In fact, I'd have done the novice very happily bar the water which is why I didnt want her first one to be at Longleat.

Maybe fitness catches people out - I saw a lot of very tired horses finishing, and that coupled with fences strategically placed in the trees possibly causes issues?

Me too, apart from that table, which was a bit of a shock so near the end! Completely agree that it was small though.

It was a fabulous course, really fun, but did not ask many questions IMO. Mind you, I will deffo be back there, it was a superb day, really what eventing is about.

I have my fingers xed that Salperton is a bit bigger and a bit more technical though....oh, and that I can sweet-talk my farrier into coming Monday as finally we need to run through a new dressage test, thank god!

Yes, Longleat is always fun to ride round, such a lovely setting and a fun course.
Salperton will be more up to height, they like to challenge you there!
