Once again, I'm in awe of my pony!
It took us nearly 4 hours to get there due to holiday traffic so we arrived with minutes to spare before I wanted to be on.
She warmed up for dressage really nicely, bar being eaten alive by horse flies. Transitions are our new way forward so we felt nice and on the aids and ready. Little cowbag went over to the arena and got tense. Not much I could do, she's only tensed up in one other test, I think tbh the fact the SJ was running just the other side of the hedge didnt help! She did a neat flying change in her 1st canter when I kicked her, followed by canter-halt-canter
It was pretty bad, yet we got the best mark we've had of all our novice tests.
Weird!!!
Then had a fair amount of time before SJ so went and walked the xc course. They'd done a great job to throw a novice track together, though it was a bit of an odd one! Some really quite little fences mixed with a couple of bigger ones and some nasty accuracy questions. Was a bit worried about the normandy bank- a step up with a ditch in front of it (ditches have never been Moon's forte) with a bounce over a roll top then two strides to a drop off the other side. And also a nasty little angled 1 stride double of little narrow chairs.
Onto the sj, she warmed up beautifully- boy was she jumping! Went in the ring, picked up canter and then they announced that there would be a hold as both ambulances had had to go out onto the xc course. Great! Moon got 15 mins of picking at grass in the arena while they waited and then we were back underway (it was 5.40pm by this time) Well she just pinged, it was a tricky course- really twisty and on a slope with horrid plastic poles. She jumped a beautiful clear, tried so so hard
I was due to go xc at 6 but because of the hold up on the course when someone had a bad fall, it was more like 6.30 when I started. Moon was way too cocky, said it was all very easy. She popped the bank beautifully, she's so athletic it just felt a doddle. Went wide round our corners etc as wanted to get a safe clear and we did just that.
Our first double clear at novice and Moon now has 1 shiney point
Little clip of the water jump-
