What do you guys think I should do with her?
Should I:
a) Keep doing small amounts of ridden work 3 times a week slowly building up to steering and maybe short bursts of trot and hack her before turning her away december until june.
b) turn her away now (bear in mind I can't ride her before June really)

Also, how big do you think she would grow? She is currently 3 years and 3 months. I quite like her at the height she is now and think I look quite good size wise on her but mum is worried about her growing too big lol. She is currently 15.1hh in front and 15.2hh behind. Her dad is 14.1hh connie and her mum is a 16- 17hh ID x TB. Her full brother is a year older and currently the same height as her.

She's lovely :) how old is she?
My mare was around 14.2hh when first backed at 3, now shes 4 and half and over 15.1 and just gone bum high :)

You're on. well done. that looked easy!
Jupiter. her brother is still very bum high but I don't think he will be bigger than 15.2/3. He is still quite weak behind (June 4 year old) so I am not doing loads with him but will he keep him ticking along through the winter as he is now called 'Kevin' as he knows everything there is to know and we know nothing!
I can't see it would do any harm to lightly ride her for a few weeks as she looks quite well grown.
'Kevin' is off to dressage in a couple of weeks, his first outing, will let you know how we get on and post some pics. so you can compare them.

She looks great. I'd carrying on riding her doing basic stuff. Jan-June is a long enough holiday. Quartz was about 14.2 when I got him as a 3yo. He's just turned 6 & is 15hh. His mum was only 16.1 tho. Looking forward to seeing some solo pics :)

Definitely, definitely ride her a few more times and then turn away until Spring. She's quite weak so I would not do more than another few times, perhaps also hack a few times and then turn away. Will do her the world of good and I really don't think riding her until December will benefit her.

Thanks million dollar. That is what I was thinking. She has put on a tOnne of muscle and weight in the 3 weeks I have had her but she still has a lot of growing and maturing to do.
Think I will give her a few days off and just get back on boards a couple of days a week. She is being so so good but just wanted to get her used to me being on board now rather than leaving her till next year as know she is gonna be quite big (well bigger than I am used to considering my other 2 are barely 15hh).

Ride he a few more times then turn her away. I backed mine at 3 & 3 months but he looked stronger and less wobbly than her. She looks quite weak and it wouldn't do her any harm to leave her till march but that's just my opinion.

Agree - at three they are still babies - get her ridden enough times to be off the lead rein then turn away til next spring :) she's a lovely little horse and as my vet said - if you want longevity, take it very very slowly :)

Yep agree with you all. She has only been in extremely gentle work (5mins at mostly walk) for 3 weeks and have only been on her twice.
I have uni exams may June time so I won't be able to reback her till after so it will be a really long break but then at least I know she is properly mature enough and can crack on with training and will mean no worrying.

Mine (born June 2009) was ridden 7 times, she was hacking on her own mostly and now she's back out in the field 24/7 with other youngsters, and I'll leave her there until May. She'll then be re-backed, brought into work slowly, will do a few comps and then will be on the market hopefully August time.

She looks lovely :) I have a 3yo who's a bit older (4 in march), we backed her and rode her for 2 weeks (so a total of about 8 times), she's now having a break until the Christmas hols where I will ride her for 4 weeks on/off, then another break until Easter where she will be 4 and we will take her out and about and then sell her (she's just a project pony).

And still, looking very relaxed. Got a shock on the first pic though.... "WHERE IS HER TAIL???" And the next picture I saw, you had plaited it, thank god. Haha!

But I would choose plan A. Your horses back vertebrae is still growing and to minimise the chance of arthritis I would take it easy with her.
