Long story... so here goes...

The FEI have told me that I have to change the name of my horse Hennessy Cognac, since it's a trademark of the alcohol company, so they own the name. Having written to the company, they won't give us permission to use it, since we're not French!

Therefore, I need a name change, which I am finding rather upsetting because its been with him three years. He's called Henni/Hennessy Cognac in the stable, so really want to keep the Hennessy, but it sounds boring on its own!

We need four different options. I think I will have HennessyC, ('cos it sounds kinda cool!) and shove our Greenhill prefix on if needs be, but I don't really like either.

SUGGESTIONS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! (I can't just change the spelling of his full old name, since its the sound of the tannoy that matters.)

Can't you just be a bit clever with the spelling eg Cartier Z became Caritier Z (or something similar

).

For example
Henisee Cognac
Henessee Cognac
Hen Knee See Cognac

Well you could just have Hennessy Brandy?!

Or Cognac H?

Or French Brandy?

Or HC? That would be brilliant as it would confuse everyone as they'd think you were riding HC...then would wonder why you weren't listed as such on the program/score board....

true, but i was working at that yard while the whole name thing was rumbling on and they didnt agree with caritier to start with.
they only went with it as he had just been approved as a bsja bronze stallion and therefore, a subtle change was deemed necissary as he had already started stud duties.

Gads, that is a pain in the ar*e, if u can't say it the same way then whats the point. I liked ur idea on the other post prefixing the Hennessey with the other name (can't remember it began with a G)

What about "Cognac de Hennessy" It's french for Hennessy Cognac!! hehee

Or maybe you could split Hennessy into "Hen" and "Nessy" so that the pronounciation was different?
Hen Nessy Cognac?

I dont know!! maybe im trying to be too clever!
