I don't know if anyone remembers me posting a few months ago about the mad woman at our yard who flipped one night accused everyone of trying to poision her horse, had the YO going through the rubbish by hand, vet drenching the poor mare and was threatening to take me to court...
Any way that all passed over and in her place we got a lady with 2 horses she had rescued (now fat and plump) but were totally unridable and bored ridgid stuck in a 1 acre paddock getting stuffed with food so that they were pretty much climbing the walls... eventually managed to convinced her that they would be happier in a big field somewhere else with slightly less food and they left.
We have had a peaceful 6weeks or so till the new people moved in..
Exhibit A - girl, 17ish, still at school owns a Palomino. Didn't quite think through the implications of having a horse at DIY livery and not being able to drive - result after many incresingly fustrated notes on the board/ msgs on her phone with regards to feeding and putting out her horse she has finally go organised and is paying someone to feed it AM. But is still an 'all the gear and no idea' rider it is just a good thing the horse is quiet!
Exhibit B- (saved the best for last!) on sat a girl and her mum were wandering round the yard looking at stuff after a while as they were obviously not going to introduce themsleves I introduced my self asked some failry standard questions...
Are you bringing a horse to the yard? - Yes.
What is he like? - Don't know never seen him (???) but I know he is 15
hh or age? - Erm...age
Have you not had him long? No, well he is not mine Im sharing him with a lady who doesnt have enough time.
Could you get more details off her? - No, she doesnt know anything about him. She has just been given him by a friend. He has been living on 200acres in the country, apprently he likes trail rides.
Dont you think it will be a bit of a shock for him coming to Sydney? - Yes I expect he will get a bit excited so I won't be able to feed him much (bear in mind out fields are 0.75 -1 acre only and grass to nibble at not feed)
Err you HAVE to feed YO insists else they trash the fields - Oh (confused look).
By this point I was worried, so after our experiences with Exhibit A I thought I should stress the DIY aspect. She looked horrified to realise that she would have to come up AM and PM!!!
WHY? WHY? Does our yard attract the hopeless and the mad??? What is it about the place? There are 4 of us who have been there for ages and we are all 'sane' (well IMHO) and 1 long term nutter but shes managable. Are there no other sane people left to move in?
Sorry minor rant and thought you might be mildly entertained...
