My bank account is so much healthier now winter is here and I am just having a lesson once a week rather than all the competing I was doing over the summer. Will try and be sensible before 2007 membership fees need coughing up!
Anyone else thrilled by this development?

Yep, me

And with this BSJA mallarky, you sometimes get your entry money back if you get placed. What a novel experience

I'm the opposite! Totally skint mine lived out in the summer and paying for all this extra haylege, shavings and feed plus a super dooper new rug has left a dent! Although I have curbed my lesson addiction to 1 a week a home with my friend (only a tenner) and 1 a month with expensive trainer - I was going fortnightly. I suppose I'm probably spending a similar amount as I'm not showing every weekend. The money it costs to run a horse is just so so scary!!!

TBH I should be in pocket also! although Im still way over drawn

YO has just said I can have all my hay and straw included in my stable rent WOO HOO so Ive saved a packet plus I dont have to pay for walker either

However, that does mean i do have to do her two monsters as and when = however, I wouldnt have it any other way

I may have an extra horse (snoop) however, its now cheaper for me to have him there plus my two than it was last winter with just my two at the other livery yard, and this one i dont have to share the facilities lol

Unfortunatly all my affiliations fees seem due, Xmas is coming, and diesel costs are just as crippling as lessons are an hours drive away. My car conked out as well and needed a few days in the garage.

Saying that I did have a spending spree on ebay which I couldn't do in the summer. All horsey things ready for next season!

mine account goes the other way because the cost of livery is so much higher in winter. In summer the horses live out 24/7 so all I pay for is the stable/grazing and use of field. No straw, no hayledge, no/minimal hard feed and no daily turn out. It easily halves my livery bill which for two horses is a fair bit of cash which adds up very quickly and so makes my bank account sadder in winter than in summer as competing wise I have over the last few years only competed very sporadically due to general lack of money anyway as was at university! hopefully that will change but don't know until get in to the flow at this job and see how much money i have 'spare' each month!!

I am forever skint as although less entries to pay out for, less diesel etc, bloody lorry now needs a service, then there's xmas (bah humbug me). Also, I miss shows! Still going to get out and do some dressage and showjumping and then have JAS and grasshoppers to look forward to, not to mention Addington Event Days and before I know it, it will be Tweseldown in March (I hope)!

I had a fairly cheap summer, as although I was competing it was with my old horse rather than the youngster and I didn't have any lessons.
Now we are doing less competing but more hunting, hoping to start lessons again on youngster now she is back on he road, and hubby's 40th birthday is 2 days before Xmas.
I am sure I will be broke by the New Year!!

Mine was looking good.. untill i bought a new car.. but you wouldn't believe how cheap that was.. so it's all still good!!

Will no doubt kick up a huge fuss when it's time to rejoin BE in '07.. as i've been told the price has gone up again.. along with the entry fees!!!

Mine's somehow more expensive because although I'm not eventing, and mine all live out, hay is approx £150 a month, feed £60 and what with two lessons a month, it's almost cheaper in the summer!!

More Hay, more feed, more shavings. I still got to indoor shows so fees are the same, diesel is the same. I make no savings in the winter, infact it's more expensive.....Oh I do make a saving I forgot.... I save about £4 every 6 weeks as he doesn't have stud holes in the winter.

Well we save a fortune in diesel as we travel all over once March is here and my entries arent as bad......but what we save on that has so far gone on ..... Mains Electric Fencing Charger Unit,300 bales of hay,Bulk load of woodshaving, Cost of Mateirals for finshing our indoor boxes,Surface for indoor.2 x snuggy hoods, Repairs to one trashed equenox turnout rug and today Im off to buy 2 x Rhino Full neck turnouts for new arrivals ...The bank manager will go nuts
