Just read the H&H report and realised the Nov winner was a Pony Trials combination.

Not sure how she managed to win as all combinations who did PT last year or are registered for this year should carry a 5 second penalty, which would make the optimum time totally unachievable for them.

This also means that at least 2 of the top 10 at Nov should carry a penalty and 1 of the PN also.

It was stated on the BDWP booking form that all PT combos should notify the secretary - I wonder how many did? or if they were taken into account?

I noticed this, it seems they didnt take this, or the top 100 riders into account at the final?!! i would have been 3rd so slightly peeved! as! 2 ponies above me

Yes, that's what I though - you should say something as you would have got a decent prize.

It's not as though LC doesn't get enough sponsorship already is it.

In the PN it was a member of a well known family who would have pushed B out of a place.

BTW is your horse Polar Sky related to Polar Sun, he belongs to one of B's friends.

Copied this from my post earlier this week - don't think anyone saw it cause I was erm.. a few hours late!

There are also people on that list of placings who have never done a BE event and neither has their horse yet they have competed at the JAS final on more than one occasion. The day ticket system encourages showing people that would normally compete at WH to compete in this series often to increase the value of their horse.

This is underhand PC style imo! (v.v.v.v.v. underhand!)

I thought that BE was all honest (obviously gullible!

Although there are so many rules!

I am confused trying to decipher the ones that are applicable to me never mind everybody!

copied from the rules

20. Riders in the 2008 Top 100 List and ponies
accepted for the 2008/2009 Pony Trials (FEI
Ponies) will automatically incur a five second
penalty handicap in classes 2 and 3. (NB: FEI
ponies, Top 100 riders or any rider who has ridden
at Advanced level is ineligible for JAS Intro.)

I start to wonder if anyone reads and abides by any rules these days. In the qualifiers I happened to mention to the sec that I knew for def that a horse had more than 5 points so why wasn't it HC.

It just makes a total mockery of the whole thing.

Surely all those competing in the Intro clas have a cas to complain then.

I just checked the Intro winners record and she has done quite a few advanced over her long and varied eventing carrer. Hardly a fair test then?

I've asked the question on the BE Forum

If you get an answer to that could you also enquire why the 5 sec panalty for FEI ponies was also not imposed.

I'll go on there later and ask the second question once I've checked the following with you. Are you referring to this rule and are you sure that some of the combinations had been accepted for the 08/09 PTs? I don't want to make a fool of myself

Just to clarify incase anyone is wondering - I have no axe to grind as R didn't do JAS this year but it really is a bit much if competitors/organisers are flouting/ignoring the rules.

grrr,,that makes me really mad,
how are you ment to have a hope in hell,if the people that are way overqualified ignor the rules, do it anyway and arnt pulled up about it and repremanded.

Can't reply T - your PMs are full - but was going to reply as follows
"Good heavens - I really am shocked. Talk about an unlevel playing field

Off to the BE forum now - if we don't get a satisfactory answer, I can only suggest that people think twice before spending money entering in future

Yes I agree the winner of the intro was actually not eligible to enter either the qualifier or final as she has ridden advanced including one last year. I was considering trying a few JAS last year on some baby horses this year and emailed organiser, Holly to clarify if I could do the intro class as I have competed advanced back in 2003 and earlier. I was told quite clearly that although I can now intro event I could not do the intro JAS unless I went HC which was fair enough. Therefore this years winner should have been HC too and I am amazed they have let her compete in the final without checking her eligibility. Very unfair on the poor person who came second. The intro is for true amateurs, not young riders competing at advanced...

gosh it sounds very unfair, i have never entered one as there isnt really one near enough but this kind of thing doesnt make me desperate to enter one!
