Went to visit my JRT puppy again and took these photos. They are now 4 weeks old, and getting v adventurous. Not a bit shy with strangers and v playful.

Can't wait until we pick her up in 2 1/2 weeks time, have been reading "After you get your puppy" and have bought her a collar/lead, toys and a whistle for training at Bramham last weekend.

I am thinking of calling her Poppy (have trialled this name with lots of friends and all think that it is v nice). What do you all think??

Thanks for your reply.
The puppies were over four weeks old when the photos were taken on the 4th June (I was away at Bramham in the meantime), and thus will be approx 8 and a half weeks when I collect her on the 4th July.
I happen to quite like their lack of tails (only my opinion), don't really want to start a tail/no tail debate as happens in NL every time someone posts a rider with no hat pic. Slightly off the point methinks.

But good news if they will be over 8 weeks as that is a much more sensible age, to be going to new homes.

I should have said "..they were four weeks when photos were taken.." rather than "they are now four weeks". It is being away on holiday, time becomes a little distorted and I forgot I hadn't posted them at the time.

Excellent, I know how important those extra weeks with mum are. I got my JRT at 7 weeks (because his mum rejected him) and he really could have done with another week with mum. Turned out O.K. but was a struggle the 1st couple of weeks. Good luck and enjoy your pup, they grow so fast. Here's mine (Ozzie).

You like your black & white animals don't you.
Your JRT has a v pretty face, and quite light framed compared to some I have seen which are a bit "solid"??
I like Izt's as well, and Nuala's 2 puppies.

Awwww....gorgeous (will have to fight you for the name..our naughty pup is called poppy!) Very useful if you call it puppy for the first couple of weeks/days..easy to change to!

Lovely poppy puppy!
It was nearly 7 months ago when i picked up 9 week old Boris, gosh time flew so quick, he's now strapping nearly 9 month old. He's docked too.. with funny little twirl of hairs at stump! and one ear always sticks up like radar even while he's sleeping it's always twitching...

U must keep taking pics while they are growing up... it was a flash with Boris...So quick. He's now cocky little sod but i love him and couldn't image life with out him!

Other choices were Mojo, Toffee, Teasel, Fudge.

Think Poppy is def my favourite (you must have v good taste if you picked the same name), and sounds v similar to puppy which could be an advantage I'm sure.

Thank you.

I am v excitedly reading "After you get your puppy home" and trying to work out how to get her to meet 100 strange people between 8 and 12 weeks as is insisted upon by the author. Am slightly worried as don't think we know 100 people never mind 100 who would come to visit (even with the lure of a cute puppy to cuddle).

All NI based HHOers - you have been warned - you will be called upon for puppy visiting and socialization in the month of July.

V cute photo - and lovely weird standing up ear. He looks a real character. I had coffee with a friend today who has 2 JRTs, I felt so excited afterwards, that in three weeks time I will have my own little doggie to play with.
I am sure there will be lots of photos taken ( didn't take many when the cats were kittens, and really regret it now).

Take her down to the nearest primary school at kicking out time! I did it with Alf as he hadn't been socialised at all and was a bit of an attack lurcher. Kids love puppies so all you have to do is stand there and they'll come to you.

Oh yes he's a real character!! He got very busy lifestyle, he loves swimming and would find spot to take a dip where ever we go for walks (we live near the beach/rivers), Loves going out in the car, would happily stay at home for while after a busy morning at the yard, He's very good with horses/dogs/cats (i have one 13year old moggy) He's a great dog.

Good luck with yours...

Sounds like a good idea.

I could of course take her to events with us, but her vaccinations won't be completed until about the 12 week mark, so I don't think that would be wise.

Fiona

(*whispers* we took both puppies to events, kept them at the lorry all day with a little carry about in arms...both bouncing dogs now..but it is up to the owner completely. We had to as no-one at home)

We have taken the puppies to shows with us - we just kept them in the car or on our knees. They loved it. They got quite upset when people walked by without stopping and petting them. They have definitely met a hundred people now but not at home.

Here's Bunny at the Brookhead show in Warrington

Fiona- Between ages of 9 and 14 weeks Boris been everywhere, (to work, shows, yards) they all are under supvision, either up in my arm or in the car and Ben my work mate dog was fully vacc so he had plenty of nose to nose play! to be honest it's up to owner, I took the risk. He's now healthy bundle with all vaccs.

Nuala- Your puppies is beautiful... forgot how old they are now?

Aaw so many gorgeous pups, I want one. Love the name Poppy, but also think Fudge would suit her as she looks to have fudge coloured markings. I agree with taking to a school at "kicking out time", I always used to do this when my kids were at primary school. Hopefully will have a new pup later in the year and would like to do this again, though might get funny looks as both children have long since left! Carrying pups round everywhere is always good for socialising, but not so easy in my breed, GSD, cos a 9 week old pup soon gets very heavy! Good luck with Poppy, can't wait to see more pics.

We may have to bring her (as like youselves will be noone at home). Hoping for J to maybe ride Flo at Tullylish for me, so I can at least keep her occupied. After that I'm not sure, but we'll work something out.

Fiona

OOhh I'm so excited. Seeing your gorgeous little ones makes me so impatient to get her home. Mumble was a name idea of ours too, but prob slightly more a boy's name perhaps??
Fiona

WIsh I could bring her to work, but not sure the hospital would be that keen TBO. I wil take her other places though and carry her, and check if my friend's 2 JRTs are fully vaccinated maybe we could visit her as well.
