Well, still progressing well. I had my port implant done last week for my chemo and it was actually more uncomfortable than having the mastectomy, but now is in and had my first chemo done last Thursday. I have come back clear on the CT and bone scans, no sign of any cancer, so chemo is a precaution and I realise just how lucky I have been.

I am feeling like I have a cross between flu, a heavy hangover and as if I have walked 20 miles. My feet hurt, I am not my usual bouncy self and feeling rather jaded, but still, not too bad to live with at the moment. Only five more sessions – last one is the 8th July and I am done. I have gone off all booze, coffee etc and have a craving for carbs – spuds, pasta, good home made stew and milk and porridge. It does seem to keep my stomach settled so I will just say sod it to the potential piling on the pounds.

I am working, but doing some time in the office and some working from home, and also am taking it easy with the horse jobs. though I can now skip out, do feeds, rugs etc but not a full bed out, or lifting heavy waters.

My hair is very short – I have gone from having it down to my bum to a pixie cut – ears and back of neck feel very exposed. As soon as it goes patchy, then I will be out with the trimmers and taking it off. I have bought some new trimmers for Stinky, but think I will have first go with them.

I managed to have a little ride on Stinky before I had the port put in, and it was great. Only 15 minutes in the school, but he took me round so carefully that I had a little trot and canter which has really given me a boost and I feel far better for it.

I hope to do a little bit of very light riding starting in the next few weeks – having been so good, I don’t want to risk tearing my chest muscles, so no jumping until end of June.

Still on target for the showing championships, friends are helping keeping them ticking over and it won't take too much to get Mr Stinky on form again.

Am stilll very positive and can't wait to be back to my normal self again.

You are being very brave, I only hope I could be as brave as you if I were in that position.
Great to hear an update from you and that scans came back good, and keep us posted x

Great news re the scans and also to hear that you are still very positive about everything.

Can you tell me the venue and date of the champs, if I can, I'd really like to come down and cheer you on.

It is very interesting and also inspiring to hear how you are getting on. I'm certain having such a positive attitude can only work in your favour. I hope the rest of the chemo goes ok and can't wait to hear how you get on at the showing championships.

I too am pleased that you're so positive and that things are looking onwards and upwards. The news from the CT and bone scans is fantastic.

You're an inspiration to us all!

I am very pleased to hear that all is going well with your treatement and that you remain positive and have even managed to find the energy to have a ride. With all my best vibes Peter

Good to hear that things are going well. It's a rubbish time but hopefully it will be over soon and you do sound to be coping with it so well. I think a positive attitude is a massive factor in recovery from things like this so keep it up! Glad to hear Stinky was good for you, hopefully he will continue to be angelic :)

I am planning to do the Trailblazers finals at Stoneleigh at the end of July - hopefully the Working Hunter Cob, and ridden and in hand traditional.

All being well, I will be up for the BSPA WCC champs at the August bank holiday at Keysoe and if I can, the Amateur Showing Society Champs at Arena UK on the 7/8 August. Everything else this year, I am not going to be able to do as I really must try to take things easy, though it is is frustrating to me that I can't get out and do loads of qualifiers which I had planned for this year.

HOYS and RIHS - 2011 are now going to be the time to try and he will be rising 7 then and hopefully really coming into his prime.

So pleased to here it is going as well as could be expected :)

seeing pics of stinky always makes me smile so I imagine riding him can sort you right out :)
