it covers windsor great park and all the deer herd there and out to Slough

fingers xed it's not really fmd and they've got it wrong as with the 2nd herd slaughtered at Pirbright - slaughtered and then didn't have the disease.

additionally the farmer has several separate plots of land and there are additional cattle on these - no mention of how far from the original outbreak

the zones will be extended to include these plots as well

also defra have said they haven't yet identified what strain of the virus is involved (anyone betting aginst it being the same as pirbright ?!)

there is another gov. lab - the veterinary laboratory at Weybridge - inside this new exclusion zone

is this a coincidence

the scottish alert is actually AT Lanark market and is signs in a sheep - now FMD has to be very obvious to be seen in a sheep unlike cows and pigs - so this could be very bad news

I would think (HOPE) this will prove to be orf. As sheep very rarely show "signs" on F&M. I worked on the big outbreak of F&M & culled alot of infected premisies & I never once saw a sheep with signs even though the cattle did.

Defra are still not admitting that it is confirmed.

According to the BBC website they are testing a sheep at the sale in Lanark showing signs of ill health. Complete lock down of movement at the sale ground as a precaution.

Not confirmed and I really hope it hasn't managed to skip so far north- think how widespread it could get if it has.

Thankies.......Tinkerbee and Reynold this is really bad news couldn't have come at a worse time......Lambs all ready to go to market etc very tough times ahead and especially as hay been scarce in some regions imagine having to feed thro winter!
