As he is well and truly wonkified

We found out the other day that the insurance had actually excluded all types of Arthritis after his ringbone, so he wasn't covered for his latest treatment, this means no LOU and a big Vet's bill to cover.

He hasn't responded to the treatment and it's taking two bute a day to keep him sound enough to ride

I cannot afford to pay anymore money to try and get him okay enough just to potter around the lanes, he is happy and comfortable in the field, so that's where he will stay.

Until I win the lottery I can't afford to buy anything else, so looks as though that's it for me and horses for a while

Well certainly as far as owning them goes and, unfortunately, I can't see lessons becoming a regular occurance.

I'm still undecided whether to sell my stuff, part of me knows it makes sense, but then part of me feels I will be really calling it a day if I do - if I don't, at least I can stick my saddle on the arm of the sofa and pretend

It's unlikely the sofa will chuck me off or go lame at least

So The Flying Cow has well and truly hung up his wings

And just because I still love the big daft cripple, have a gratuitous Henry picture

I am so so sorry. Hen is so lucky to have you and i'm sure he's loving being a handsome field ornament. i've been there to and its not easy at all but I got through it!

Oh no

I'm so sorry, how gutting for you. I don't know where you live, but if you ever want to ride you can come and ride one of mine- I could do with some help- there really aren't enough hours in the day!

Im so sorry

I can totally relate we've been through the insurance nightmare where everythingis in the fineprint
frown.gif

in the end you just have to do the right thing for him by the sounds of it he's having a happy time with his friends in the field

He is enjoying standing on top of the hill gazing into the distance so passing people can admire him

I've had 8 fantastic years with him and if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be upset at the prospect of not riding again for awhile, so I'm definately the lucky one!

Thank you, I think Gloucester to Worcester is maybe a bit of a trek though, especially as I don't drive

The exclusion only states Ringbone, so I'm not sure why they've suddenly decided that covers every type of Arthritis, but oh well that's insurance for you

really really sorry to hear that, poor you, poor lad. he's very lucky that you're going to keep him as a field ornament. keep your stuff, something good might come along, really hope so. *HUGS*

Until the day comes he isn't happy/comfortable in the field he'll stay put. He really has been everything I could have wished for, I owe him so much, it's the least I can do
smile.gif

I'm hoping something happens, and quickly, I can't afford much more time away from proper riding - my tummy is already getting squidgey

What a shame, poor you (I'd say poor him, but actually, he gets the life of riley that ever horse dreams of - well looked after with nothing to do all day but eat!)

so sorry to here this to, was hoping for a better outcome reading your other posts, but ditoo what the others said hes lucky to have you.
If Salisbury isnt too far for you sometime youd be welcome to come and have a ride on Gem. Have got the opposite problem in that she fine for once, but ive just had an op on my back so wont be rididng for months yet, so shes also having a life of riley getting fat in a field!

Very sorry to hear this. He's a lovely boy but as you say, sometimes enough is enough. I'm sure he'll love being outstanding in his field.

Keep your stuff if you have no pressing need to sell it for money or space. If you decide to give it up sometime in the future, if you haven't used it in ages, all well and good. But don't make that decision now if you don't have to.

What a bummer, my heart goes out to you.
frown.gif
However, if you're gonna have a field ornament you might as well have an entertaining one.....that poor yearling.
