I have 2. My youngest 1yr goes practiacally everywhere with me. She even comes to work & sleeps under my desk all day (or left in car if cool enough as dont want her to clingy).
My older dog 6yrs stays at home with my Farther she's about the only thing that can get him out the house as she demands walks! She never gets let off the lead by him as he doesn't have full control of her, yet I make sure I take her out so she can roam off as she listens to me & does as I say.
I try to get both dogs out together for a burn at least once aday if not twice. I am training my younger one to be a gundog so when training I only ever take her.
The older dog I am sure is jealous of not coming with me during the day but on a evening she is allowed upstairs to watch TV with us (she has full roam off the house where as younger dog is only aloud downstairs. So I feel this makes up for the young on being woth me in the day.
I do take them both off for the day together too if going off somewhere. Aso take the old girl out for just us time to which she enjoys.
I am the pack leader so I am in charge & they have to put up with what I decide!!
Different ways work for different people. Its a case of doing what suits you (so long as dogs dont suffer). The dogs know no different to what they are given.
