Anyone who didn't know my YO's horse and my horse were turned out together for the first time a couple of weeks ago. For 2-3 days they were fine but then in what we can only think was a freak accident, YO's horse got kicked and has a bone chip on his hock

He's been at the vets for 2 weeks as they had to operate to flush infection out of the joint and remove the chip and he's on cross-ties. Anyway, yesterday YO told me the vets rang her and he has a bone infection

The vets have said they can't operate again, so antibiotics is the only way to go. They've given him 3 weeks to see if he makes an improvement - they said he's got a 50:50 chance....:(

ive followed your posts,it is a shame but dont blame yourself these things happen its noones fault

hugs to you and your yo xxx

Thanks everyone. I'm just hoping and praying he pulls through - I can't bear the thought that he might not. Poor YO was in tears last night when she was telling me. 50:50 is better than 30% though - and I keep telling her he's got youth on his side.

One of her cats had left a dead pigeon in his stable last night and she said 'I hope it's not an omen'

! I said it was a sign that the cats knew he'd be back and had left him a welcome home gift - let's hope that's the case...

Work on the basis vets always give the worst case scenario as they don't like to give false hope. With any luck the AB will work and you are right he has youth on his side! Hope it all goes well.
