well set of at the nice time of 7 this morning for the PN at moreton. much nicer than the 4 AM start 4 tweseldown!!
arrived in plenty of time for the dressage and went to get my number etc and i must say that moreton did a fantastic job with the ground. several people have said that it was underwater at the weekend and altough the ground was soft it was no where near as bad as i expected.
in the warm up for a dressage buster was awful. i swear it would have been easier to drive an industrial tank round an obstical course!
but right towards the end he soffened and did quite a nice test. i certainatly thought it was better then tweseldown where he got a 34, we got a mark of 33. someting (
) but i was certainatly pleased with that mark!
then we had a 3 hour wait for the SJ which gave me chance to walk the XC and it was a very nice course, all very inviting but with a few technical bits to keep u thinking. nothing pariculary worried me but i thought the water would be a bit of a kick on fence and the angled double of logs would need some accuracy but the ground overall was good considering the wether!
next moved on to the dreded SJ
he warmed up imaculaty, didnt touch a fence which made me panic as he normally smashes through most an i started to think i was jumping him to early! but in the ring he did a nice round. had one down which was my fault as i took the turn a bit tight but the rest was really nice and 1 down is a bl00dy good round for him!
now on to the fun part. went down to warm up for the XC and he was an absolut nut job warming up!
he was hurdling everyting then bolting of bucking!!
another rider summed up his performance quite well ... 'hmm impresive!'
all i could think was oh god he is going to be a nightmare! he pranced round the start box but once we were away he was fab. he flew over everything, took all the straight routes and didnt bat an eyelid at anything. i was using his sheepskin blinkers for the first time and i think they seemed to do the job!
anyway que my face looking something like
as we came through the finish! once i was through the finish i was greeted by stilton and it was great to meet her!!
anyho, had 6 time faults xc. i worked out that 6 time faults is 15 secs and there where 16 fences on the course so it works out at about 1sec per fence im losing. i think im getting him back a bit soon so from now on im going to let him run a bit more. as for placing, i didnt stay to the end but would guess around mid teens. all in all im very pleased with my boy, he proved to me today what a great horse he could be, everything just seemed effortless!
wow i waffle on a bit!
well done for getting this far! i will post pics as soon as i get them sorted!
thanks for reading!
