Moronic New Forest tourists getting kicked by pony!!

Yeah well - the pony gave her at least 3 warnings to leave it alone, and she still intruded into pony's space.

But see how the pony waited until she was turned before kicking her away with its back feet - and held back a lot. He could have done a full on, but he held his hoves for a moment. Knew exactly what he was doing.

Stupid mother.

Unfortunately that's the way it is nowadays people don't know how anything about horses. It's the same when cars speed past us. It's not that they're being malicious they genuinely have no idea. A few generations ago horses where part of everyday lives.

Idiots...although I've just been out with the dog and had to give some kids (and their parents  ) a lecture as they'd gone onto private property and were attempting to stroke some young calves...

For a start, stick to the bloody path  and really, do you want your darling offspring trampled?

God knows how they coped with the horses in the next field, and then the Highland cattle on the moors. I changed my route so I wouldn't be a witness! ;)

Can't believe the amount of "nasty pony" comments! That one gave plenty of 'back off' cues, and probably more before they started filming. She was lucky that was all he did IMO. Heck, even the well behaved Welshie has moments where she pins back her ears at my daughter, who is learning to tell when she should back off. Like when pony is eating..

This is not the fault of the child! Children don't think, thats why they need looking after, look at the mother/parent/carer, she is setting the example. She should have kept the child back, however I am sure she was just bruised, hope she was ok. I am afraid as a child I had to learn my lesson the hard wayto with a new forest mare. I was not allowed to touch horses cos my eyes swelled up when I did, I had a lovely briuse, at least after that my mum took me for lessons. Guess what, my eyes stopped swelling up!

Some people are either just darn right thick or completely ignorant to the fact that these ponys are wild... It amazes me that someone would be so stupid to try and pet a wild horse... I would hate to see what that family would be like on a safari in africa... "It's ok sweetheart go and pet the nice fluffy lion" Morons!!

the girl was with a friend not her mother (i had a look at her other videos) and they both have horses so it cant be put down to ignorance, just stupidity im afraid.

It is something I see all too often, and the ponies give plenty of warning signs before they react.

I also see cars stop and the people feed donkeys and ponies through the windows, and then they wonder why these animals march up to oncoming cars and get injured.

I drive across one of the Forests "blackspot" roads for animal casualties every day. It is quite common to see cars with windows down and people feeding the ponies. Donkeys in particular are drawn to the tourists and I've just seen a few in the pub car park being fed titbits. Its bad enough that they are given something unsuitable to eat but they are attracted to cars and roads and there are casualties nearly every week.

Most of the mares are going to be in foal and at this time of year not long to before they have their foals so they may want their own space more than normal.

It looks like it happened very quickly and the girl would not have had time to get out of the way but you can't blame the pony, people forget that even though new forests are renowned for their gentle natures these are semi feral ponies not domesticated ones who are used to be handled every day.

I was talking to someone who lives on the forest, and she said that she has even seen people try to sit their kids on the ponies.

Hello to all of you,
I am the girl who is featured in the video that didnt get kickeed and who posted up that video.

I am deeply offended by all these nasty comments toward us.
These horses were owned by the hotel owners, and we were given permission to go and stroke them, we know they were wild but we had watched many people stroke them before us.

we were sitting down at the far side of the field when they both walked over to us, they started to follow us around and were nuzzling us, so we assumed it would be okay to give them a pat.

we wante dto capture this moment on film as its not often wild horses approach youa nd are frindly.

the horses showed no sign of that behaviour towards us before the film, and standing that close to the horse Tash didnt realise his body language, when he lashed out she stumbled and fell, she got back up and he immediately thought danger and lashed out again.

We are both experianced horse persons, we have both been riding since the age of around 4 and are now 14 and both have our own horses.

we respect the points you ahve come up with us and we deeply regret getting so close to them. We ask that you please stop posting nasty comments towards us as it is quite offending..

Kind Regards
Amber

Hello, i am the girl who did not get kicked in this video, i found this forum throught the stactics of the video , from where people had found it and readingt his has deeply offnded me & my friend who got kicked...
please read my comment which is he newest one posted and you will see the FULL story -_- i own a 5 year old who im breaking in...do you really think i need more experiance?? the horses were not fully wild and were owned by the hotel owners who gave us permission to go to them, but infact both horses walked toward us. wishing my life away has deeply offended me and i hope your aware of that.

Equestrian4evax, maybe this experience will remind you that animals are not machines and can be unpredictable.

I would not approach my horse in his paddock and start messing around with him unless he had a head collar on and I was on the other end of the rope. Let alone a horse that I had never met. They weigh half a ton and have very hard feet, capable of travelling very fast. Surely, as someone who has had as much experience of horses as you say you have, you should understand this.

Sorry, but if a loose horse approached me, I'd be a bit cautious. Regardless of whether I saw other people stroking it or not.

Never mind, no harm done. Chalk it down to experience and dust yourselves off.

And don't blame the ponies.

Ah, I think the confusion has come from the title of the video then - as it does carry the words Wild Horses in the title and description:

soo..Tash got BADLY kicked!! NO CRIT. wild horses approached us in the new forest yesterday and they were nuzzling us so we filmed but one turned nasty. Tash is alright now just some cuts on her back :L we think its funny now but as you can see it was scary at the time!! :-O! xxx

Glad no one was seriously hurt.

Just because a pony walks towards you in the Forest does'nt mean it will be your friend. They do this BECAUSE people feed them titbits then when they walk towards the next person who does'nt have any food they can turn nasty. Just admire them from a safe distance and leave them be.

i've seen people that have spent years around horses yet still have no common sense so this statement is just silly

however...

whether you were right or wrong to approach then it did all happen very quickly.

the question that i would be asking is why the hotel owners would allow people to be IN a feild with semi wild ponies!?

is this not a law suit waiting to happen???

If you think its okay to let a small child near an unknown pony without a headcollar on, let alone a semi wild one, then yes, I think you do.
I'm glad the little girl is okay, and I hope everyone involved has learnt some important lessons regarding safety.

Hello All,
Thankyou for the comment sposted from today,
a few of them have some advice of what i should of done, and i cant change the past but i do appreciate them.

i appreciate this comment, but can i just say, she is not a 'little' girl? we are both 14 and in year 10? - not really sure you class this as 'little' but if you mean her frame then i understand.
