I bought a set of these clippers a few years ago and think they are fab, especially as one of mine is very nervous to clip.
However, I find on occasion the blades start to 'chew' the coat rather than cut it cleanly. I have had the blades sharpened and even bought a new set, but they will still stop cutting intermittently. I have refitted the blades as per instructions and they appear to be working normally, just not cutting.
Has anyone else experienced this and what have you done? The clippers are 3 yrs old but have had very light use, 2/3 clips a yr max.

Are they the battery ones or corded ones? I have found that my battery ones start to do this if the battery needs charging.
 
I have the Avalons. I also had the same problem. It turned out to be the plastic bit the blades sit into on the clippers. It's a bit of a design flaw as it wears away and affects the cut of the clippers.

Take them for a service. I bet they change the gear head (which I am sure is what they called it). It's quite a soft plastic, so doesn't hold up well. Cost me about £30 for the service, including the part.
 
Funnily enough I have a set of these clippers and thought the blades were blunt... sent them off to be sharpened... got the 2 sets back and one seemed blunt as the clippers didnt work.... had a right old go at WAHL who as a gesture of goodwill sent me a brand new set of blades.... but reading this its probably the bit of plastic worn....

I will send the clippers up for a service and see what happens.....

Back to Peasbridge for a service I think - a bit annoying as so new and hardly used.....
 
Little off target but could you tell me what the blade cut is like? Friend has offered to lend me her clippers for my tb and wondered if they will cut fine enough for him...thankyou

To be honest they do not cut as fine as my other clippers which are Heiniger Progress, but still do a neat job.
They are good for horse with fine coats such as your tb but not sure if the blades would cope with a greasy cob coat.

QR If you snap the blades down into position whilst the clippers are running, it seems to make them "sit" correctly and work properly. Sometimes it takes a couple of goes. Apparently its just a little quirk with these clippers.
 
I had the same problem last year, I bought new blade and still did it, I have just ordered a new battery as I think it is probably that, I have had them five years and haven't been too good at looking after the battery as recommended!

I also second the clicking of the blades when running, you get a really load and solid click and that gets them working at their best!
 
Interestingly enough I phoned Peasbridge today, who I bought the clippers from originally. They think that the blades haven't been sharpened correctly, but probably would say that as I did not use them to do it!!! They have not had any back to replace the white plastic clip, so this may or may not be the issue....
I am going to have a try with putting the blade on running, and make sure the battery is charged right up, and if still doesn't cut cleanly will send the whole lot off to Peasbridge.
Will let you know how we get on!!
 
I have these and they have gone through my woolly CB without any problems. You do have to have a knack to sitting the blades in properly - it took me ages to figure out what was wrong with them.
 
i emailed peasbridge a few weeks ago with the same problem - mine have never ever done a full clip even in the 4 years i have had them, just the odd bib clip on my shetland.
They replied saying that it will be the blades that need replacing so i shouldnt send them in to be services.....
i bought some other blades (snap on ones) for the the other year when the started to do this (when i last used them - 2 years ago...) and they said i was mis-sold the other blades....
i dont fancy paying £50 for a new set of blades though if they still dont work correctly!
