The young man in the uber-pimped day-glo orange hot hatch, who brought it almost to a halt as we trotted the cart past to avoid startling us with the wide bore exhaust noise.

Of course Sam wouldn't have given two hoots, but that's not the point. Really considerate, and most unexpected.

Just shows you can't judge a book...etc.

:)

The very executive looking gentleman in the silver range rover who crawled passed at about 20 on a 60 road where the car just before him barely moved over and didnt slow down.

The guy who got out of his car to tap the workman with a pneumatic drill facing the other direction on the shoulder to let him know a horse was coming. Not that said horse was bothered by drill. Too busy spooking at the road closed signs!

You do realize he did that because he was afraid you were going to damage his beautiful care.......... Just kidding nice when that happens!

I don't have any horses any more but most recent was a boy racer here too. Generally speaking, they are very courteous. They don't want my horse of their beloved bonnet anymore than I do :)

A lad on a noisy little off road bike. We had just been stopped by some dog walkers to tell us he was acting like a loon. He saw us, pulled onto a verge, turned his engine off and took his helmet off.

From the other day, the older lady who slowed down (way more than was necessary) who was then speedily over taken by an impatient girl racer. What an idiot! The older woman shook her head and gestured towards me, catching my eye she just smiled.

.... The excellent and quick thinking driver who took evading action to let my moped rider husband swerve across the road when a lorry shed some scaffolding poles right in front of the moped
He may have saved my husband's life

It was yesterday so i'm cheating a bit

Golly, bless their heart! I hope they never need it but if they do, I hope someone does something similar for them one day.

We are trying to "train" all the drivers who sweep past us at 60 mph on the 30 mph mile stretch of road we have to brave to get to a "safer" place to hack, some days we feel like we are making progress but today :( one came so close I had to remonstrate with the schooling whip I carry to encourage them to give us a wider bearth. However, I think probably about 90 % are now passing WIDE AND SLOW, high vizzed allover.

I always find boy racers very considerate to horses.

We don't see very many out here, although we do have lots of mid-life crisis types - gents in their 50s in vintage cars or motorbikes. They're always considerate - they're slowing down so that you can admire their prize toy!

Loving the positive stories on this thread.

And on the other side (and a few days ago) was in a friend's car approaching horse & rider and a blind bend. Rider immediately took to the verge & waited for us to pass instead of just heading on herself :smile3:

Not ridden in a while, but when I walked Ned home after his escape, I couple (who I assume had just got married) stopped a long way ahead of us, jumped out, plucked the balloons off their car and got back in again. They even waited until we had gone before getting out and putting them back on again!!
They were thanked very enthusiastically :)
