I use forage plus hoof health balancer for one horse but it would work out pricey for feeding more than one horse, does anyone use any other supplement?
most economical hoof supplement?

Id go with progressive earth.
Either their specific hoof supplement or an all round balancer.
Its not filled with rubbish, it just has what they need and and at very good prices.

In a way you, get what you pay for. Forageplus uses Bioplex forms for copper and zinc, has a very high dose of both, and pays particular attention to using low-iron ingredients.
Progressive Earth and Equivita for example do similar kinds of products. ProHoof uses the bioplexes, but the dose for Cu and Zn is lower. Equivita also uses a lower dose, and sulfates instead of bioplexes. ("Lower dose" is still more than the RDA, it's just lower relative to the high dose in FP. If your horse needs that, FP might be the best choice). Equimins Advance complete also has comparable levels of ingredients to Equivita and ProHoof (just lower magnesium levels) and comes in pellets, which can be handy.
In the end, I think you won't get around looking at ingredients per dose, and price per dose, then decide what you really want and need in your supplement and go for the best deal.

Depends on how vital it is to a horse's feet - if you are feeding more than one it suggests it isn't targeted, and Robinsons biotin isn't expensive, or Vetvits Equihoof is good (my farrier rated it)

I started with equivita last year and horse has gone from throwing a shoe at least once every 2 weeks to now going a full cycle so even if it seems costly it is saving me £20 every 2 weeks 
I had tried biotin alone but it hadn't made a difference.

Maggie had terrible feet and I tried a couple relatively expensive supplements inc Formula4Feet, it's quite a commitment because it takes months to see any tangible results. Formula4Feet did make a difference but it was pretty pricey. Anyway, in the end I was paying off some big old vet bills and needed to make savings so I went for NAF Biotin Plus (which is only around £14 for a big refill bag that lasts quite a while) She was on it for the last 8-10 months of her life, and I have to say I think her feet had never looked so good.
