Well pretty much as I thought there is a lot of variation but it seems that the stories about short supply and mega prices for hay all over the country aren't true. Now there's a shocker........talk about a market economy!!!!
The hay is supplied by farmers near Blackmore.
I've now decided to move my neds mostly onto haylage as it makes better economic sense. The £5.50 hay is pretty rubbish and mine are ignoring it so I've not got much choice anyway.
I'm full of envy for you lot who can store large round bales - feeding 3 horses for 7 days at £22 is currently my idea of heaven as my total hay cost at £5.25 is somewhere in the region of £300 pm.
So far Amandaco2 has the edge at £6.00 per bale.......
