Most interesting comment from a dressage judge?

That's your sister? I love that video!! What were the rest of her marks as the test looked quite nice up until that point?

:o

It was indeed my sister! I was kind of hoping nobody remembered the YouTube sensation. Hehe. She actually came 2nd I think with a high 60's and still got a 4 for 'THE HALT!' It was a beautiful test and a fantastic pony, just very very cheeky! Think the judge felt sorry for her - either that or she had a brilliant sense of humour. :D

The pony certainly did! :D

'Piaffe not required' - prelim
'You were obviously enjoying your day, thank you for making me laugh' - a 43% prelim!

Not from a judge, but from my riding instructor after watching me to a stress age test ( and I was only 14), no wonder you do better at x country and jumping, dressage takes a bit of effort and concentration, of which today you had neither!!!!!!

I forgave him, I have known him since I was 5, but it seemed harsh at the time. : o

I think my favourite was "Pony gave you a difficult ride but well managed. Lovely smile at end!"

And who says you don't get extra marks for looking happy? ;)

Also in a novice test I had to canter a half 15m circle and then counter canter on a diagonal back to the track. The comment was "Horse performed nice half pass."

Still got a 6 though, must have made the judge giggle! ;)

In a BUCS uni comp where 4 riders ride the same horse to see who can get the best tune out of it I got "well done, you were the only person to keep the horse in the arena"

And the nicest comment I ever got was "attractive partnership, promising for the future" this was having ridden the horse for two weeks and our first competition together.

In defence of dressage judges ... most of us would love to give everyone a sheet full of high marks and loads of positive remarks about the correctness of their horse's way of going but usually we can't! It's often a case of trying to think of something positive to say. I went through a phase of saying "Nice horse with correct paces", until a competitor pointed out that everyone knew what I was going to say before they even got their sheet back! didn't do much for my street cred!

I've just watched that again - that must be one of the funniest dressage tests ever! :D

Is the pony still doing dressage?

We need a link now please!

"A little naughty today"

This after whinnying on entry, glaring at the judge's car, whinnying again and bucking. Random bucks throughout test rounded off with a flying change and extended counter canter. It was a novice test, I thought we deserved 10s for creativity. Horsey had a whale of a time, ears pricked and practically skipping the whole way through.

"He really wasn't helping you at all today" (You're not wrong ), and "Quietly coped with" after seven incorrect canter leads in a row before we ran out of movement :o:p

Thank you BBH I had to watch the end 5 times and it it funnier each time. What composure from the rider as well. :D. Please can I be really demanding and ask for the YouTube link, can't get it on iPad.

Oh I forgot another one!! "Nice test, shame about The Incident." :o Horse had a major freakout at... well, a scary bit of sand...

After a very strong tanky test, the comment " you poor thing" was on the end of my test sheet, it made and my friend giggle all the way home.

After spending hours preparing horse, plaiting, travelling to show etc, I was last to go in the competition. Judge and writer were clearly eager to go home. There were only comments on 2 movements. One of which was:

"O 2 sm"

I then promptly gave up dressage

I've just watched that again - that must be one of the funniest dressage tests ever! :D

Is the pony still doing dressage?

No, she's gone hunting now and loves landing belly first in ditches and getting filthy. She had already given up a successful career in showing as show judges don't find it quite as amusing her doing her 'little trick'.

Glad you all enjoyed it, I've watched it about 200 times and never fails to make me smile.

My vet of the time was doing dressage at a one day event, the horse exploded and dumped him in the arena, the whole course is pretty open plan and the horse ran off with vet in baggy breeches in hot pursuit. I believe the comment read something along the lines of 'can't speak for the horse but jockey showed some good extension in the medium trot'!!

"I think this chap would rather go hunting" - she was a mare! But she had just gone along the long side in canter with 3 enormous flying bucks - she was 22 :D :D

"Should do well at the higher levels" when my youngster had insisted that trot meant passage in a PRelim test!

From recollection prelim 10 is, or used to have a 20 metre circle in the middle of the arena, prefaced by canter at roughtly A. At A I put my leg on and got buck after buck after buck. We even managed a 20 metre circle in the right place, go knows how. The judge just commente 'Naughty boy' and gave us a 0.

I always used to get the comment 'what a handsome cob', well he is, and its nice that the judge realised this as well.

My daughter always gets 'What a super little horse ......'. However, she is riding at a much higher level than I ever did and she does own a super little horse.
