There's a new leader, I think?

Menage is falling out of favour and most people are using arena instead.

Is number one now domosedan? I've seen more spellings of it than I've had hot dinners :D

Confirmation and laminitus for me. Oh, and I also see some very interesting variations of the word ‘haylage’!

And whilst not a spelling issue my favourite phrase is;-‘

I’m thinking about breeding my mare’

No!!! You are thinking about breeding FROM you mare!
Your mare’s breeder bred her!!!

Not so much a misspelling, but I'm always amazed by how many stallions have given birth, judging by the number of horses that are 'out of' a stallion.

We get lots of threads on here entitled "biting".

I open them expecting to give advice on moving the horse's mouth away from you, ignoring bad behaviour and rewarding the good, only to find that the advice wanted is about which bit to use.

That should be 'bitting'!

Haulage instead of haylage.

That has happened to me, dratted autocorrect. OH was amazed that I had ordered some haulage - he probably thought I had bought a new horse :D

I have a friend who was telling me in great depth about how his horse now had cushions and it may be to do with being fat. I thought he was talking about fat pads, but no it was Cushing's. He could not blame autocorrect as he was talking to me.

Screwbold.

The one that gets me though is a 5 star vetting. I often wonder if the vet used a red carpet or something.

Afraid I think I am old school but getting manege, haylage and conformation wrong really does irk me.

I don't think this is a spelling error only, more like a misuse of language error. People go out to buy a new horse/rug or whatever, and come back telling you "I brought...". No, you bought! Well, okay, presumably you also brought home whatever thing you set out to buy. But still. Bugs me.

When people tell me they 'brought' something, I ask them, "Where did you bry it from?" Confused face follows, at which point I explain it's easy to remember bought versus brought if you consider that the present tense also has an 'r' or not...after all, nobody asks if they should "bing a bottle" or "bry that nice horse".

Plurals.
Flies not flys.
Incorrect use of apostrophes when it’s just a straightforward plural

Please ask someone to check it over before you place the ad, especially when you want a few thousand for the horse.
