We have a new Rottie pup, only 7 weeks old, & I'm struggling with what to feed her! Doesn't like Pedigree Chum puppy food or Wafco puppy large/giant salmon & potato or Chudley's Sensitive which my other Rottie is on. She will have a go at the Chudleys but the chunks are too big for her, and she won't try it dampened down. She will eat wet food, but it upsets her stomach. Her breeders said she would eat wet or dry but wouldn't tell me which brand.

To save me buying every single type of puppy food, could some kind person please suggest one that she might like?

And a photo...

Gorgeous puppy :D

I suggest picking a dry variety that has super small chunks - my favourite is iams - and then if you can leave her to get on with it.

When she's hungry she will eat, and the breeders said she ate both dry and wet, they can be extremely fussy when they realize that you will pander to her every need - not saying there is anything wrong with this - but if she is happy and healthy then let her get on with it x

Two brands mentioned I wouldn't dream of offering. :(

Echo Katielou, Fish4puppies or equivalent.

Please check ingredients and ensure what the primary elements are before choosing a food.

Cheapest and easiest and also most natural would be raw, but if you can't face that, then choose something from a decent pet shop that has high meat content.

The pup is a little young to be away from mum?

I have always fed my litters of choc lab puppies on Arden Grange Puppy food and never had a problem. At 7 wks old I still would wet it slightly and fed it drier as puppy gets older. My older dogs are on Arden Grange Salmon and Rice, I know its quite expensive but I think its worth it! Hope this is of some use to you.

My vet recommended Purina Pro Plan and mine have thrived on it ever since. It has a high meat content so they wolf it down. I do add some wet to mine but that's just 'cos mine are totally spoilt.

PS if you want to offload that pup you can send her my way. She has a grown up brother and sister just waiting to welcome her in!! :p

why dont you phone the breeder and find out what she has been fed on since weaning? as she is only 7 weeks old (and very lovely) you can only have had her for a couple of days at most, and she would only really have been eating food as her main rood source for 2 weeks?Enjoyher whislst she still fits on your lap!!

What did the breeder you purchased her from have her on? Did they not give you a bag of whatever they fed to start her on? If she was doing well on it at the breeders why are you looking to switch her so early on in life?

although i kept Harley on the same food the breeder had him on, his really wasn't very keen on it. It all changed when he could start going on walks and then he suddenly started eating!

I kept him on the same thing and did things like adding warm soggy weetabix or small amounts of grated cheese. Made it more interesting and he then ate it!
