Lovely Northamptonshire again!

I have worn one of the Lucinda Green-type LPC-100 helmets for the last few years, unfortunately yesterday it fell from a high shelf in new horsebox, 8' onto hard floor. Grrrrr i said it would fall off but was told that that shelf was specifically for hats and they never fell off. *livid*
So, it's going in the bin, and now i need a new xc skull cap.
Can't find the LPC-100 ones anywhere, i guess they weren't good-looking enough. (well, there's one on Italian ebay for some reason, very reasonable if anyone wants one, but it's too small for me!)
Have been having a look at the Enhap results on MDIRF pages, but nothing stands out.
Advice please! Thankyou.

I think the Gatehouse HS1 helmets are the best, although I have a champion Ventair one and that is really comfortable and fits well - the HS1 didn't fit my head that well.

Is this in your new lorry K? We dont have a hat shelf

we have a cupboard on the left as we go into the living the top one for jackets the smaller one I put my hats in, do you have that?

Anyway to original Q I have a Gatehouse and love it, it feeld very secure and safe and its also very light

H-J, yes, in new lorry... it's a shelf over the living door. i use the lower cupboard (below wardrobe bit) for my boots. i'm just so annoyed because i knew the bloody thing would fall off the shelf, but was assured that they don't!
at least only one went, my brand-new HS1 stayed up there, otherwise i'd be doubly furious!

We dont have a living door I dont think, unless you mean the actual door into the lorry!!

I put my boots on the left hand side as you go up the steps but I need a pully thing to put around them although they dont move TBH.

Are you pleased with it apart from that??

We needed a couple of engine type things done the other day and they wanted us to take it back up there!

takes us like 3hours to get there so we said no and they will send someone down here to do it.

I think the HS1 is a snell E2001 which is an american safety standard that exceeds the British standard. Much as I'd love one my head is the wrong shape!!!!!

I have a champion ventair - out hunting my horse reared up over backwards I was rolled on and kicked in the head and the hat did not have a mark on it. Its a funny one as does not fit every head though.

I feel a shopping spree coming on!! Used to wear Champion hats so hopefully my head is still the right shape

Many riders do like the HS1 from Gatehouse, I tried it when looking for a new XC hat, but I have quite a small head and I found it a bit heavy and 'bowling ball' looking on me.

I have a Charles Owen APM hat which is their newest design, it was origionally designed by jockey AP Mcoy with extra protection around the neck and ears area with body protector like material (to BETA Level 1), which is to prevent damage from kicks etc to that area of the head.

I do like it, you will now see many event riders wearing one as they have realised it's qualities.

You can find details of it on this website, click on APM helmet

http://www.charlesowen.co.uk/en/products/discipline/xcountry.php

But of course it is personal preferance and what fits you best.

You might be able to see from this pic, kindly taken by cannonman, the extra protection on the sides.

Hope this helps.

i also have the AMP one by charles own a bit like the LG hat but a bot less in yuor face! i have the black side bits as i think they look better! BUt i find it very comfy except the 1st one i had rubbed my ears but they have since brought out a new one that dosnt do this (they took my 1st one of me when i fell at gatcombe!!)
