I hope to do a bit of low level competing with my tb this year but some days he seems stiff and I'm not entirely sure if he's up to it. He's 14 next month and hasn't done a lot before I had him (raced once but ran out so sat in a field for 9 years with the occasional trot around a paddock).
He had his teeth done in October last year, up to date with worming and vaccs, hooves are improving etc but keen for a vet to check his back and give him an 'mot' as people call it.
Just wondering how much this would roughly cost?
He wasn't vetted before I bought him - so really I'm after that, everything they'd cover in a pre purchase vetting.

You could get a 2 or a 5 stage done, but anything like xrays would cost more. I would get a physio or a back man to check his back rather than a vet. If you're in Oxfordshire/berkshire or anywhere round that area, I use an excellent physio that I can recommend. She has transformed my horse who had some significant soft tissue damage due to scarring which had been there for years and she has made a huge difference in his way of going in just a few treatments.

I'm keen to have him tested for a heart murmur - I've heard a few horror stories of horses going well then one day they have a heart attack without warning. Just an overall check but not sure what is included in a 2 or 5 stage so will contact my vet :)
I'm in oxfordshire so interested in your recommendation! :)
