I'm relieved because my IVOR just passed it's equivalent of the MOT test here in Geneva - they're quite strict that the unit is in good mechanical order to allow it to continue to be used on the road. (Brakes properly aligned, no corrosion, wheel bearings OK, lights working etc. etc.) It was it's first one as it is 6 years old. After that it's every 2-3 years (you are "invited" to come to the test center!)

Do you have need to have MOT tests for trailers in the UK?

I must admit, if you're transporting 1200kg of horse, it's good to know the trailer is in good condition !

As far as i know its not required here. You can have them serviced every year but its not law or anything!!! Judging on the state of some trailers i have seen about its definaltey not law!!!!

No, it's not law, though there was some talk about a test being created some years back, though nothing ever materialised.
