After 2 days playing in the snow, this morning my horse has started moulting!!!! Bit early I thought, then again I didn't clip him this year as he's not being doing much, so wondering if that could be why... It's freezing cold still, we're in North Yorkshire so not the warmest place. A couple of the other liveries are losing a little but my boy's stable door is covered!

Coat loss I understand is initially triggered by the change in daylight hours so anytime from 21st December onwards as the amount of daylight hours starts to stretch out. Then it's down to temperature as to rate of loss...mine been slowly moulting gently for about 2 weeks.

I took a plastic curry comb to mine last night, and had to empty it after every swipe, it was ridiculous! She loved it though, her face was a picture of ecstasy!

My ID is moulting so bad I'm surprised she has any hair left! And I don't think she looked particularly hairy to start with! No idea where so much hair is coming from but I groomed her for twenty mins early and has to take handfuls of hair out of the stable when I'd done

Yeah mines been doing it since we started getting more daylight (not enough for my liking tho, roll on spring and summer!)
