Any one else competed there since the new indoor shcool has been done?

I went there Sunday just gone and the place place looks great, BUT the show was sooo unorganised and unproffessional. They had students doing all the work and they were crap, did nthave a clue. It was painful watching them do the fences for the next class!!

I went sunday!!

It was more of a schooling trip for my new mare and I but we ended up going quite well.

I totally agree. The indoor is wonderful and the place looks fab! (It was nice to have the cafe - which wasn't there either last time i went) But things ran so slooooowly. I understand they are students and still learning, but it got a little annoyed when i asked one of them a question and she was rather rude.

The other thing that worries me is the lack of gates, if a horse got loose i dread to think what could happen.

I'm hoping for a better future for the place as its only down the road for me, but i guess we'll have to wait and see.

Yea, I took my yound one for a day out aswell, he was very well behaved....for him!!!

Thats another thing, the cafe was shut when I went to get a drink. So I asked the secretary girl if there was a vending machine and she said there is, but it was in the cafe!!!!!!

Id like to go again, but dont think I will after Sunday, plus the warm up was abit of a death trap!!

I thought that about gates aswell, its all very open there and lots of places for horses to run to if they got loose.

I wonder if i saw you - what class did you jump?

I thought the warmup area was ok, if a little tight. The cafe was open when i was there but it wasn't very busy.

I did class 2 and 3, planned to do class 4 aswell, but got fed up and went home!

Thinking of going to Pattchets on 5th May, they've got an intro to BSJA day on, where you can jump on a free ticket. My young boy has never done affiliated jumping b4, so thought this would be a good trial.

Thats funny, i did the same classes. We'd intended to do 3 and 4 but when we arrived they were still on class 1! I didnt want to wait around all day!

I'm off to addington to jump the BN this weekend, but we are jumping HC as my mare is out of BN.... i just need the practise!! Not been to Patchetts yet, whats it like?

Yea, Ill prob end up going aswell too. Its so close and convenient.

How annoying that people from here went and we didnt know!
I did a post last week to see if any one was going ,but no one replied. Would be good to meet some of the people I chat to all day!!

You werent the girl I was talking to at the gates when they were doing the course for the 90cm were you? I offered to help the usless students put the course up straight!!

I must of missed your post.

I'm not sure, i spoke to so many people (ive been known to talk too much) i can't quite remember. I did wait outside to walk the course though, so its quite possible we spoke!

Think I spoke to you at the gate!

I was wearing tweed (wasn't going to get my black jacket dirty just for Moulton). I had a smallish dark bay TB (ex-racehorse).

To me or Archies_mum? Its a small world anyway..... i would of loved to stay for the 1m class but i wasn't going to wait any longer!!

How did your horse go?

Really well. Spooky in the first round but managed to go clear. Old competitive gland kicked in second time and he whizzed around the jumps off. Came third.

What about you? (both of you)

Yes. Helpful husband freezing in a t-shirt band shorts because he knew best when I suggested wearing more clothes before we left home!

Haha, typical men! At least he stayed with you, all my helpers seemed to dissapear!! Just cant get the staff anymore!!

Silly Mare - Well, then we definitly would of seen eachother, since i came 4th!

I was with my Boyfriend.... he is actually quite helpful, though got a bit bored with all the waiting around!!

Hang on a minute, Ive got a feeling you might of been parked next to me! Do you have a blue trailer and I think it was a shogun??

Archies_Mum - Blue trailer yeah, but it we have an old silver Landcruiser....

We were parked next to someone with a dark red Ifor williams (i think) with two horses.... i remember the woman wearing a white shirt with a vent at the back that was rather colourful. Was that you??

Oh I am so glad I am not the only person that says that place is unorganised and although very nice indoor school, there is also a lovely football pitch for the horses to head off over and out the driveway onto the road!

I posted not so long ago about this, also saying about the fact that you can never get anything to eat or drink there and I got a real ticking off from one of the students who I quote, said, the cafe has been open for the last 6 months and also asked me when the last time I competed there was, to which I answered, 5 months ago!!!!

How BD are going to hold their heads up after a few events there is still beyond me....

(So thanks for posting this.... it just proves my point!)

I went to watch but ended up taking a friends stroppy mare in to class 1 for her. If you spotted an old geezer on a black 16hh horse in the line up of class one that would be me.

yes i also remember the reply from the student! Just smile and now know you are right!
Unfortunatly the reality of what is required in the equine world and what students are taught, things that cant be found in a book, are very different. This organising thing takes that bit more effort and you have to work outside the 'box' a real case here of all the gear and no idea. Good competitions are more than just a nice arena and a good surface.
i was thinking of taking one of my staff there so she can compete but , especially for the safety concerns ,i will think again. As for the lack of food i can't cope without a nice cup of tea and a chill out its also nice to actually meet people!
