I didnt realise it was going to be so quiet, and almost missed my first class! Luckily i arrived as they were chaning the course and because they took their time about it, it meant i was able to enter and even walk the course.

The 90cm am champ qual looked fine, a few lines that thought would be interesting but everything looked pretty enviting. She warmed up OK, except getting in too deep to an oxer and stopping, giving us a longer warmup to ride through it. This made me a little nervous and i didnt really sort my canter out when we went in, it meant i had a bad line in at the first, which she jumped, but then ended up to deep (again

) to the second - an oxer, causing her to stop. I have to admit, i very nearly fell off. Gathering myself together whislt they re-built the fence i came round and jumped it again no problem. Jumping the rest clear.

I waited for the next class and perhaps chilled out a little too much in the sun, because for the next round she felt a little switched off. We jumped round the first phase clear although it was hard work on my part, came into the jump off and jumped the first few Ok, but got to a double (three jumps from the end) and she jumped in but stopped at he second part.

Cue a disappointed sigh from me....before coming round again and doing the exact same thing a second time - so elimination...and one very angry jockey.

My OH got it all on video and after watching it again it doesnt look as bad as it had felt at the time and i think the reason she stopped is because i was a little deep to the whole thing. It's just dawning on me though, that if im not pretty much correct, she'll stop

I will try and upload the videos if i can work out how to do it...but for now i think i'll be stickng to jumping the lower classes to try and iron out the problems i am having. To be fair on myself, the first round was pretty good, i kind of wish i'd left it there and gone home!!

Well done, Im sure youll sort out your poblems and will be back on form in no time.
Im surprised it was so quiet there, but at least that gave you more room in the warm up!
Shame I missed it all, but Ill try and make it next time!

Thats about the way it looked to me. It would seem if your canter is slightly off or takeoff point is a little deep or you are even slightly ahead of her movement she stops. However, she does seem happy to go off a longer one in a forward canter.

She does seem to punish you for the slightest error when there's no real reason to. Annoying for you as she has a real pop when she wants to

Its quite disheartening really....as im only human and am going to make mistakes. Im really hoping that we can get through this and she'll decide to try for me a little more... I guess in the least im learning to be correct!

Don't be too disheartened, it sounds like she has lost a bit of confidence too.
Just think about getting a really good canter before you start and then stay straight and sit still!

When are you out again?
